Fløibanen — Attraction in Bergen

This is a must see in Bergen. Extremely well organized lobby & short wait times for the funicular. After a brief ride up, you'll find breathtaking views, mountain goats, restaurant, gift shop, restrooms, a troll forest, and hiking. Best of all, their boutique gift shop offers quality items and exceptional service. While visiting Floibanen on a tour, I purchased 5 items and once I returned to my ship I realized I only received 4. I knew I hadn't misplaced it because I promptly put the bag in my backpack & locked it. Checking the sales receipt, I was in fact charged for 5 items. I reached out to the Floibanen's Gift Shop via email as listed on their website. I followed up once I returned to the U.S. and sent a copy of my receipt and payment details. Much to my delightful surprise, I received a response whereby they confirmed I had in fact not received the missing Santa and they would be shipping the item to my home. Arrived around 11 am on a Thursday and there was only a tiny wait. Friendly person walked me quickly through buying a ticket on the machine or you can have someone do it the old fashioned way. The only thing was I didn’t understand how the tickets worked—was it for both of us one way or individual for both of us? (It was the latter) we had a short wait to board the modern funicular. The views going up are not great. Everyone exits and starts flocking to the goats. Either be there first from the funicular or hang back at the lovely bar/restaurant area to choose an optimal goat petting time. Then it is a relatively quick hike to the small lake. My pre teen was not impressed by the lake 🤪 I thought it was peaceful and relaxing 🤷‍♀️ he then played on the big playground for a while then we stopped in the gorgeous restaurant/bar. I can’t speak to restaurant prices but the bar was more reasonable than I expected. It had a gorgeous inside area or you can enjoy the views outside. We did both because it was chilly. The views are a bit better going back down. The ride is pretty short both ways and not that scenic so don’t worry too much where you end up...

Most people dont understand you can buy tickets online in advance and, instead, wait for ages for others to handle the ticket machines. A single staff member outside giving away this information and controlling the flow of people with preordered tickets would speed up and streamline the process, but not with Floyen (because one-time tourists like me buy those tickets anyway so why care) About 25 Euro/2 adults, children under the age of 4 are free, for a 5min ride up the hill. "Fast lane" for strollers and wheelchairs is a disaster, as there is only one segment per cart reserved for special needs. So you wait in line for ages and are bypassed by about a hundred "normal travellers". Ridiculous. Up on the hill the main area is under construction and not accessible. There is a café that also hosts the advertised changing table. We had to wait in line for more than 20minutes because changing table and toilet for the disabled is the same room(!) and literally half of the visitors are children. Who planned this insanity? The trip up with Floyen really spoiled...
