This quaint Japanese grocery store is really something! I just happened to see that it was across my testing centre and I've been wanting to visit this store since last year for their Hokkaido ice cream (wanted to test how it fares with the one I had in Japan), clearly it didn't disappoint! 🍦 It had that rich flavor and the small cup was really enough! It was filled high beyond the brim as you can see!
Walking around the store, I was also surprised to find some stone baked sweet potato/yam. It wasn't that warm when I got mine though so I decided to take it home to reheat it instead.
I also found out they have cooked bentos that are quite enticing. Wanted to pick the Grilled Salmon bento for dinner, but after a big brunch from Blake's, I opted for some gyoza and soba omellete.
The store has a wide range of vegetables and frozen goods (yes there's an A5 wagyu block too!) What caught my eye was my favorite sweets - Ishiya's Shiroi Koibito is available here (didn't get a box at this time though)! ✨ Some beauty section on one shelf as well.
I think if you know what you are looking for, you'll...
Read moreThis spot sure is a gem for those who love to munch on authentic Japanese goodies. Plus, it's quite close to the central business district, so that's a plus if you're always on the go.
One thing that strikes me about Minnano is the friendliness of the staff. They always greet you with a smile and are willing to help you find what you're looking for. The atmosphere is also very open, which is perfect for those who want to take their time and browse through the wide selection of food and other goods from Japan.
Now, I have to admit that some of the prices can be a bit steep compared to other groceries in the area. However, the quality of the products you get is definitely worth it. It's not just about the food, but also the experience of shopping at Minnano that makes it a nice place to buy from.
Overall, Minnano is a great spot for those who want to indulge in Japanese flavors without having to hop on a plane. It's not perfect, but it definitely has its charm. So if you're in the area and looking for some Japanese goodness, give...
Read moreThis is a good mini grocery store to score Jaoanese products. Some, like the instant noodles, various alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, you can also buy at local supermarkets, but Minnano has some products that you can only buy here (or will be hard to find somewhere else—for example, uncooked Wagyu beef, ready -to-cook seafood, fresh fruits, among others. But our favorite here is the Hokkaido, which is really delicious. It’s quite expensive though, with a small cup will cost you almost 200 pesos. I hope someday they will add more hard-to-get-in-the-Philippines items like Nato and salmon roe (the big variety).
The hassle of coming here is that, even on weekends, you can’t park on the street, unless the driver remains inside the vehicle (this is applicable only on weekends; idling on the street during working days is not allowed, please keep in mind). Alternatively, you can park at the nearby Legaspi Village Car Park, which is about 400 meters away...
