I enjoyed this place for typical Polish classic dishes. I had a lovely regular tomato soup to start with followed by the Polish classic "kotlet schabowy" - rather large Polish style breaded, pork cutlet. Finally, I had a Polish style potato pancakes with sour cream. I really liked the pancakes but that was way too much food - I should have had them on another occasion but I just really fancied them. I also had a flavoured tea. In total, I paid 117zł which is about £22.50 for a meal and a half. Without the pancakes it would have been about 98zł which would have made it about £18.50 and it still would have been a rather large, hearty meal. I have seen people having just the soup and it was enough for them on that cold-ish night. They do offer more classic Polish soups like "żurek", "barszcz" (beetroot soup), "grzybowa" (mushroom soup) - I just wanted a tomato soup. You can probably find cheaper places but this one offers very good, solid quality dishes and is not mega expensive. I did see other Polish classics on the menu like bigos and pierogi (Polish dumpings) which I had on another occasion and really enjoyed them then. The decor is rather simple - it is not a posh restaurant but for my taste it was perfect. The atmosphere very much depends on the people visiting. I was by myself and it was perfectly fine. The service was quite quick, so if you wanted to you could quickly eat and leave. Overall, I can recommend it, especially if you want to try classic Polish dishes done really well without having to go to an expensive restaurant.

After spending a few hours at the nearby museum (Czartoryski), we were ready to devour some Polish food. Noting this was our first exposure to authentic Polish food. We chanced upon Domowe Przysmaki after walking around for a few. There is a menu outside the restaurant which helped us decide to check it out. The greeter sat us in a central place and a server who spoke English took our order after a few minutes. They had a good amount of menu items and we decided to order some water along with the following: Grillowany filet z kurczaka z ryżem i surówką (Grilled chicken breast with rice and salad) for my husband, Karczek pieczony w sosie własnym z surówką z buraków do wyboru: kopytka/zymniaki (Pork neck in its own gravy with beetroot salad and a side of your choice: potatoes/potato dumplings) for me and Pierogis: Ruskie (curd cheese and potatoes) for us to share. The meal was lovely. The prices were reasonable (we paid about $40 for everything which includes service). The ambiance was nice, restaurant wasn’t too loud. They played music but you could still converse without raising your volume. The servers were wonderful. The young man who got our order also had a sense of humor which was refreshing. I noticed he was serving most of the tables and he was certainly doing a great job. Overall, I recommend this restaurant. We had a very satisfying meal and experience.

I decided to visit Domowe Przysmaki during my trip to Kraków partly because of the good reviews, but also the owner's responsiveness to ratings on Google (it is good to see a business that engages with customers and wants to improve where possible). I was very happy with everything during my visit. The food was tasty, and the service was wonderful. The waitress spoke English well, and the restaurant is clean and tidy. As you can see from the pictures I have posted of the menu - there is also an English translation, which is most helpful for those visiting the city. I was initially slightly disappointed that there was no dessert of the day, despite visiting in the early afternoon - however, this turned out to be a stroke of luck, as I really enjoyed the brownie with ice cream and whipped cream! The brownie is bigger than it looks in my picture here, and tasted delicious. The warmth of the brownie, with the coldness and texture of the ice cream (I think it might have had coconut pieces in it?), coupled with the whipped cream and sauce, worked perfectly. Really happy with my visit to Domowe Przysmaki, and I hope to pay you a visit on my return to Kraków. Many thanks to all! P.s. The other dish you see pictured is the traditional pork chop with potatoes and fried cabbage (45 PLN at time of writing). The coffee is a cappuccino. Also delicious!

Myself and my two young daughters visited this restaurant on March 5, 2025 in the evening. The place was not very busy. I was traveling with my little kids as a solo mother. When I first opened the restaurants door, I understood something is wrong with this restaurant as I have a stroller and their door is very heavy no one came to help until I got inside. I found this attitude very rude. Then a waiter showed the most suitable place. My two-year old daughter wanted to sit down on their cloth covered chair. Then after two minutes we sat, she sat she needs to pee (she is on a potty training therefore I have been carrying potty everywhere), it was so urgent (only people can understand this who have a kid!) and I did not see any sign for bathroom and I did not want to make the chair wet, I put the potty under the table and she used it so quickly without disturbing anyone. Then all of sudden, that waiter appeared with a very angry face saying 'do not do this here is a restaurant!!' I explained to him it was so urgent and I did not want to make the chair and the ground wet and where the bathroom is not clear. Then I went to bathroom as he showed where it is to clean the potty. I carried the whole potty to the bathroom again not disturbing anyone. Until that moment I was certain to stay the restaurant and eat. I tried to understand their situation as well.

Then when I was in the bathroom another blonde lady came and literally yelling at me in front of my English speaking kids, 'DO NOT DO THIS NEVER EVER AGAIN! DO YOU THINK HERE IS A VILLAGE?' She said many more ridiculous and rude things. I was explaining her how it was beyond of my control and matter of a second. Obviously she came to keep arguing and to give my lesson!! This was really unnecessary and escalated the situation from their side as I kept mostly quiet only asking for some empathy! Then I got my kids and left this hostile place. The fact that we did not make any mess, I did not speak rudely either. We are talking about a two-year old baby, not an adult! I am sure if an adult person smokes inside, their reaction would be much less rude and hostile.

It was very overwhelming situation for my and kids! But thanks God we found a child friendly restaurant right across this restaurant where we found a warm welcome!

Being a traditional Polish restaurant in the middle of old town makes you a touristic enterprise as well, and tourism needs flexibility and understanding and of course politeness but unfortunately these are the characteristics that this restaurant does not have. I wish I could have reported you Polish Ministry of Tourism.

So I DO NOT recommend this family and child unfriendly place for especially families!

And dear blonde lady! Next time I will consult you before I travel with my kids! Even though we experienced such an unpleasant thing, Krakow is such a great place and full of nice...

AVOID if you have young children or functioning taste buds. Children are NOT welcome here - however this review is not based on the restaurant’s unfriendly policy, but on the rude behavior of the staff and on the below quality food (the fried cabbage and potato pancakes with mushroom sauce were especially dull and tasteless). I have never had such a bland version of these dishes in Poland! But I would like to elaborate on the terrible service:

On 23 July 2025 my wife and I arrived with our 1 year old in a stroller. The young hostess invited us inside but let us know there was no baby chair available. That’s fine, our baby can sit in a standard chair with us holding her. But as she is a toddler…she likes to toddle around. So either my wife or I will hold the baby’s hands and walk outside together or around the table. Pretty standard stuff which we have done in many restaurants in Poland and all over the world without issue.

Up to this point there was no mention that the restaurant is not accepting children. In fact we were already walking the baby around inside and outside before our drink and food orders were taken. Again no mention anywhere that kids are not welcome….

As soon as our food arrived we did the usual routine - 1 parent eats their food and 1 parent feeds the baby or walks around holding her hand. This was ok for a few minutes until a lady with a very heavy presence (maybe a manager?) appeared and told us it was NOT OK to be walking around with the baby and in a very rude way said “this is not a kid friendly restaurant.”

Well that’s great to know after we have been invited inside and had our orders taken! But what made it worse is that the lady (manager?) then lectured us in a very condescending and patronizing way about child safety. We take this topic very seriously, which is why we don’t let the toddler run wild but always with a parent holding their hand.

I completely understand if you don’t want children in your restaurant, but please inform young families immediately so they can save their time and money and not be subjected to such rude behavior. And it’s not like we were hiding the baby…we arrived with a stroller.

The food also left much to be desired: the only dishes I would rate as acceptable were the side salads. But the much larger issue is the rude behavior...

I don’t know how the chefs at this restaurants managed to put so much love into their cooking but every dish I had felt like home.

Starting with a delicious hot cucumber soup laced with dill and sour pickles and cooked rice, I felt there was something special going on in the kitchen. Was it Instagramable? Not really and thank goodness. It tasted like real food for the soul.

I wasn’t prepared for how good my mains would be. I ordered crumbed pork cutlet with mash potato and fried cabbage (more like sauerkraut with fennel seed). I’ve tried crumbed cutlets all over the world. I’ve had the best Tonkatsu pork cutlets in Tokyo, German schnitzel, fancy French and Spanish versions and lots of pub versions back home. This pork cutlet was up there with the very best I’ve had anywhere. First, the crumb: it was crispy and flavoursome. It stuck to the cutlet as it should. It was light and dry. The cutlet itself was first class without any chewy sinews or greasy gristle.

The cutlet itself was tender and full of flavour. I’m guessing the chefs used some butter to finish the cutlet because it had that buttery sweetness that added to the overall flavour. It was actually a shock to start the dish because I’ve had so many awful versions of this simple dish that when I put my fork into it, I realised that this would be different. And it was.

Even my simple desert of fresh fruit and maple syrup was one of those dishes you dream of finding in restaurants but never do.

Value for money is exceptional. Service is attentive and friendly. The Polish craft beers were a bonus.

This is not a very fancy restaurant with white tablecloth and silverware. This is honest, delicious Polish food cooked by a kitchen that loves...
