A review based only on a Spa experience. ||||After a previous visit to Hotel Copernicus last year, we decided to return for a Spa day. The hotel is expertly renovated and stunning inside, boasting a modern interior whilst maintaining the charm of the historical building. ||||The lobby is extremely charming. The hotel itself has 29 rooms and is in high demand, and it’s obviously to see why. The location is perfect with the castle just a minutes walk away. The main square is also easily accessible, about 5-8 minutes walk down the Main Street which is bustling with shops, attractions, and museums. ||||Now, about the spa. ||||This is located in the cellar of the hotel and is once again, finished to an extremely high standard. The cellars are accessible via both stairs and an elevator. ||||The spa is not large by any means, and the low vaulted ceilings provide a very cosy and intimate environment. Your first view is a crystal clear-blue pool, which reflects the light across the ceiling and walls creating a mesmerising dance of the light. To the right is a small check-in desk and immediately behind this is a quaint changing area furnished with lockers, a sink area, and shower. The spa is affiliated with L’Occitane and so all the products are branded as such. As expected, these products are top-shelf and smell incredible. ||||In the lockers, bath robes and slippers are provided, and towels are liberally placed around the spa for your convenience. As a male with size 11 feet, I stood no chance squeezing my spade-like feet into the dainty slippers. I asked for a bigger pair and was provided with an identical, one-size-fits-most pair. Needless to say, I was also unable to wear these but I am used to this so bought my own sliders for the occasion. ||||Next, into the relaxation chamber. Two large reclining beds are located here, on the floor. Very comfy and relaxing environment. Many candles (electric imitations) are present and the atmosphere was so calm I lay down and had the most amazing Power Nap. Free water (bottled) is provided. There is also another shower with an assortment of yet more L’Occitane products. ||||A small sauna in the corner was set to 99° Celsius - and certainly felt it. I managed to endure 10 minutes, but would struggle to stay longer due to the heat. ||||The pool itself is relatively small, but the atmosphere is unparalleled. And due to the need to book a treatment to access the spa, was deserted. The pool itself is amazing, and although heated, is at body temperature. ||||The real star of the show was the treatments. My partner and I both booked facial treatments. 60 minutes for approximately £70. Not exactly cheap by Kraków standards, but this was by far the most amazing experience. The smell of lavender and other essential oils was incredible. The masseur was equally brilliant and I left feeling the most relaxed and stress-free I have been in years. ||||If you are looking to pamper yourself - there is simply nothing else available to this level in the city. Highly recommend and we will be looking to return...
Read moreI stayed an extra night in Kraków, so I booked the Copernicus Hotel for my last evening. Out of the four hotels I tried in Kraków, this was my least favorite.
I booked a double room for one night in September through the hotel’s website. I had recently stayed at another Likus property and enjoyed it, so I wanted to try Copernicus, especially for its restaurant.
Pay close attention to the room descriptions on the website, because depending on your preferences you may want to request certain features in advance.
The website notes that the windows in a double room open to a “majestic patio or are fitted in the roof.” My room’s windows opened only into the hotel’s interior courtyard (which I believe is what they call the patio). It’s fully enclosed with a glass roof, so there’s no direct air or view to the outside. This was a misstep on my part for not understanding correctly and felt disorienting for feng shui reasons, so I would recommend clarifying in advance if you prefer a true outdoor-facing window.
The other drawback of the room experience was the air conditioning unit. Even with the temperature set to the lowest level and the fan on high, the room never cooled down.
The bathroom was gorgeous, with L’Occitane toiletries. The hotel site says bathrooms are fitted with either a bathtub or a shower. I prefer a shower but was given a bathtub. That was my oversight, so again, I recommend requesting your preference before arrival.
Back to the room, I appreciated the size, the Nespresso machine, porcelain cups, sparkling and still waters, and the frescoes on the walls. They are beautiful. The TV did not have Chromecast. The in-room folio also mentioned turndown service, but since I was only staying one night I did not receive it. I assume it may only apply for longer stays.
One of the reasons I chose this hotel was the spa and indoor swimming pool. I loved the spa at their sister property, Pod Róża, so I wanted to compare. The spa/pool area isn’t as expansive but does include a swimming area and sauna.
I booked a last-minute dinner at the hotel’s restaurant. The food was excellent. My phone had challenges connecting to WiFi and service inside the restaurant, so I recommend bringing a book or something to fill the time in-between courses if you’re dining by yourself.
For the airport the next morning, I used Bolt and had to walk a few blocks to the pickup point. Just a note in case you need assistance with luggage.
Overall, Copernicus is a beautiful hotel. I recommend staying here, but make sure to read the website carefully and confirm your...
Read moreAs a regular visitor to Poland on business, I have always stayed at the Stary Hotel when in Krakow, however, this time I decided as my fiancee was accompanying me and she graduated in fine art, to book Copernicus. I chose the Hotel because of how well I have been treated when viisting the Monoploe in Wroclaw( A Likus Group Hotel), were I must say service has been suberb on every visit. To my great disappointment, I have to say that the Copernicus definately made me feel like a tourist with their rules rather than a valued guest. I had returned from dinner at 22:10 to have a drink in the bar, we were met with an attitude of wanting to close and that we were not welcome despite being a resident. Eventually served and told last orders at 23:00 which is more than acceptable given the rooms are above the bar and restarant, so at 22:50 we asked for another drink and we were told no. We complained and Dominic came at 22:56 to say no again. Worth commenting that we were in no way drunk loud or disrespectful.... I recieved a call from Joanna in the morning to appologise and I must say after being able to voice my opinion directly with her, I believe my concerns have been dealt with, for this reason I have ammended my review and can say the Hotel has done what it can to mitigate our upset. For that I am very grateful and would finish by saying to all reading, that if there is a problem the Copernicus are happy to...
