I am traveling around east europe and been into many places I don't usually write bad comment to a place but this I had to write a review just right after I finished my meal.
The reason I put 2 stars that chicken dish is good. The rest has to blame the service I been treated. I was randomly pass by this restaurant and asked a waiter to have a look on them menu but the eyesight from him just show me that like I'm not the one who can effort this or maybe I was wrong. When I ask from him a table for one and he question me back like 'now?'. Am I look like have no idea to decide when I can have my meal?
But after I been sat down and just forgot about anything happens to me and I saw the glass was a lot of hairy thing as u can see on picture. So I did ask a girl come over to check on my glass and she said she will ask someone to check on it. After 10 minutes there is no one come back to me and I saw that guy who sat me down earlier and I called him over. He did offer change a new glass for me and he did explained and apologies to me because of different server comes around so they had no clue what is going on. Well I believe within 10 minutes is enough for you guys to get ready a meal but u had no idea what is going on in your restaurant when I saw there is not crowd busy in your restaurant? And by the way, the waitress clean my plate without asking me if I had finished. Well I think it is a general manner to check the customer if they really finished finished before take the plate away right?
Well what I really upset me was when I ask for a bill, the girl I told her in beginning about the hair in glass she came back with bill and kind of apologies to me and said IN HER POINT OF VIEW SHE DON'T SEE ANY HAIR. BUT ANYWAY U GOT REPLACEMENT OF IT.
If you tell me this is a fine dining service, I can tell you that is a horrible experience that I ever had in my life! If you really want to pay this money to get this? I could recommend somewhere in Krakow which had better value and better service and better atmosphere than this restaurant! Don't ever waste ur money and ruin your mood...
Read moreWe have visited the restaurant during Valentines. First of all there was only set menu and it was not possible to choose a la carte. A year before we were in La Fontaine which is also a famous restaurant with Michelin recommendation and we deliberately chose set menu, but it was our choice. But here the differences don't finish. For 5 very ordinary courses (obviously extremely small but this is normal for such set menus) in Pod Nosem we paid 180 PLN pp where else in la Fontaine for set of 6 couses (much more sophisticated) we paid less than 100 PLN! The dishes were quite simple but prepared correctly (maybe except of scallops which were almost raw and my fiancee, who comes from France, where this dish is very popular was quite upset). Also the service was a disaster. Waiters limited themselves to taking orders, bringing dishes and asking if we want more wine. Nobody asked us if we like the food not even mentioning offering the salt or pepper even for pasta (it was on the table, you can help yourself if you want. Self-service). On top of that 6 tables were busy, I saw at least 2 waiters that night and having 2 tables per person and set menus they managed to make mistakes in bills of everyone but us! The two tables on our right had their bills swapped, and all people of our left had either too much or too little glasses of wine on the bill. Also they offered other people liquor at the end of the dish (not sure if standard procedure or excusing for all the mistakes) and didn't offer it to us. We were the last couple and they gave us the impression they want to close. They were cleaning the tables and switched off all the candles when we were finishing the dessert, so that the smell of was pretty bad. Also the restaurant is very small, so the tables are pretty close (this is normal in France so didn't disturb us that much but i guess some Polish guests could be...
Read moreDining solo at Pod Nosem was a pleasant experience, with the evening starting on a classic note: chicken liver pâté accompanied by a selection of very good breads.
For my meal, I chose:
Brioche with foie gras and raspberry mousse – the most adventurous pairing of the evening. The flavours worked, but did not quite surprise.
Deer sirloin with asparagus, béarnaise sauce, and foie – a safe, traditional dish, well prepared but without any unexpected twists.
Cheesecake with raspberry sauce – a familiar, tried-and-tested combination, competently done.
A glass of Polish Gewürztraminer, recommended by my waitress Olivia, proved a very good match—unassuming yet exactly right for the menu.
The food overall was good, leaning towards the traditional rather than inventive. Perhaps that was the intention: to present Polish cuisine in a refined but recognisable way.
Where Pod Nosem excelled was in service. Olivia struck the perfect balance—attentive without hovering, professional yet warm. She made me feel like a valued guest while also giving me the space to enjoy the meal in peace.
The atmosphere was elegant but comfortable, creating the right backdrop for a relaxed evening.
Would I return? Yes. Pod Nosem delivers solid cooking and outstanding service—an enjoyable place to revisit...
