another hidden gem in the heart of old Krakow. The museum is actually open (summer 2022 - despite google saying otherwise). I passed by this building so many times and I had never noticed it, on super busy Floriańska street. it is definitely worth stopping and checking out. Sadly it is not accessible as it is a really old house that had never had an elevator. it is the oldest biographical museum in Poland, which was created only a few years after the artist's death. Jan Matejko and his family lived in this building - and it houses his original possessions: furniture, books, glassware, tools and things he collected: old weapons, antiques brought from his journeys to foreign countries and of course his art. There are descriptions in Polish and English. There is no AC - only fans placed in some rooms. washrooms in the basement. coatcheck available. a small museum shop by the ticket counter. free entry on Tuesdays. the house has a lovely tiny courtyard with a few benches - a great place to sit down and relax just a few steps away from one of the busiest...

Read moreThe night of the museums, this museum was supposed to be open till 1:00. I arrived there at 00:35 and they didn't let me in. I give 3 stars and not less because maybe the museum itself is nice. On the website it is written that they stop letting people in 20 mins before the closing time. Maybe you should stick to that, or change it on the website, so that people can make their plans accordingly, and not see them frustrated. UPDATE: I finally visited the museum and I liked it a lot. A beautiful museum in an old and particular house. Interesting in terms of architecture, history, and, of course, art. A jewel in the very...
