Excelent building but way too small for large embarking operations. Friendly porters, staff and security officers. The terminal has stairs, lifts, and also a ramps in case the lifts are not working. The exit point is different from the entry point (opposite sides of the building), keep that in mind. Also pick up your luggage and buy your tour tickets before you leave the building because you will need to do the security screening again if you exist the door. Beware of taxi drivers on the parking area, always use apps for both taxis and Uber. Returning to the terminal is easy, as in all security screening they will ask you to put metals and electronics in the bins for the X-ray machines, they also ask you for your belt. I had a talk with one of the security officers and removing the belt is a rule of the port. There are some duty free shops inside. Embarking on the port can be a mixed bag. If few people are embarking (about 500) it's actually fast, if more than 2000 be prepared for long cues. Security works really fast but the bottleneck is often on the ship check-in we must do after the security screening. This port also has a smaller older terminal building in front of the train station. Duty free shops there were often closed when I was in port, but it's a very calm place and the staff is often less stressed than in the main terminal probably because the cruise ships which dock there are often smaller. As cruise ports go it's...
Read moreCalled here while on a 12 night Canary Islands Cruise, we were aboard the beautiful MSC Virtuosa. The port of Lisbon was a gateway to the fantastic city of Lisbon itself, and what a great day we had in the world's 2nd oldest city. The local food and drink was absolutely excellent, and the well known custard tarts can only be described as outstanding. To be honest they were miles apart from the ones we have tried here in the UK, and selection of beers and wines were very varied. The weather was excellent and was averaging a very warm 36c, this was at times too warm for me to be honest. We found the old town to be very quaint with cobbled streets, cobbled pavements and pretty hilly. We came across the old lift/viewing tower which was very picturesque, the amount of people queuing to access it was horrendous, so did not use it this trip. We decided to do the climb up to the platform, great views but was a tad warm around the edges when we got there. Would highly recommend a trip to this lovely city, we will definitely be...
Read moreIndeed, good duty free shop, very cheap. However I will explain why I put 1 star, that goes specifically for Solaris shop (sunglasses) in this duty free. In September I wanted to buy few sunglasses here with my credit card. Transaction went through, but the lady, Carla, in the shop, said I need to do one more time as the payment failed. I did it again, still nothing. When I checked my bank account, the money was taken twice but in the shop they said no, we did not get any payment. I got a receipt from them and wrote to my bank. After some days, my bank said that transaction was cleared and I had to refer to the shop to return me the money. I gave my usd account, they transferred money in euro which I could not receive because they had to send it in dollar. After some weeks the money was send back to them so that they could send me back to the right account. And guess what? They never returned me my money which is more than 1000 dollar. I do not recommend to buy anything in this Solaris shop. They have problem with...
