1869.god trgovac Veljko Savić je na svom placu (u Knez Mihajlovoj 46) izgradio kuću na sprat. Na spratu su bila dva stana: u jednom je živeo vlasnik, a u drugom se nalazila Beogradska berza. Njegov sin Lazar je testamentom (1921.god) ovu kuću ostavio Kraljevskoj srpaskoj akademiji nauka. Nakon II svetskog rata ova kuća je postala društvena svojina. U toj kući je smeštena Kuća legata kao institucija koja se stara o legatima i poklonima datim Beogradu od 1955.god. 1980.god je akademski slikar Nedeljko Gvozdenović poklonio Beogradu 569 svojih slika koja čiji deo je izložen u Kući legata kao njena stalna postavka. Tokom 2006.-2007.god dobijeni su i legati: Olge Jevrić, Milenka Šerbana i Milene Jeftić Ničeve Kostić, a 2009. i...

Fantastičan izložbeni prostor.Ja sam bio na izložbi Radeta Markovića i ovaj prostor je bio više nego adekvatan za njegovu postavku a Radetova izložba je inače izuzetna.Moja jedina zamerka je pod u ovoj galeriji - trošan parket koji škripi baš i ne ostavlja najbolji utisak i definitivno otežava posmatranje eksponata koji se nalaze na podu ali i to će se verovatno promeniti u skorijoj budućnosti.
