Unfortunately I can't recommend the 24 Guesthouse Seoul Station, I want to because the staff seem lovely and they have clearly made an effort to make the best of the building.
However there are some fundamental issues with the property: A minor thing, there is no lift, so you need to carry your bags upstairs, which can be an issue on if you are on the 3rd floor with heavy bags.
They have added as many rooms as possible, so many so that its hard to open the doors and enter the room, you certainly can't enter or leave at the same time as someone else.
The room itself is very small and the bad is uncomfortable, the headboard was loose so it's not good to lean against and there is nowhere else to sit. As such If you want to stay in the room at any point you will need to lie down or sit uncomfortably on the bed.
The bed itself was hard and uncomfortable to sleep on, I struggled to sleep every night.
The floor had underfloor heating but there was no way to adjust the temperature and it felt so hot on my feet they were close to burning, this also meant that the room was roasting hot and the window needed to be kept open all day and night to maintain a liveable temperature.
The window blind was of a type that had half blocked and half transparent, the idea being that you could align the sections to either block light or let light in but because of the gap between the two it was impossible to set it to block light, so when the sun rises so will you as the light comes into the room.
The bathroom and toilet were combined with no curtain or other element to separate them, after showering even if the fan is left on the room has such poor ventilation that the water will still be there the next day when you want to shower. In addition the lack of ventilation means that the walls get covered in condensation, the toilet roll touches the wall so that side soaks in the water ruining the roll.
The entire interior of the building and the room showed age and damage with makeshift repairs, remains of rusty metal broken off, one side of a railing stuck back on with filler, etc.
I thought about leaving and booking somewhere else but each day I tried to make adjustments to make it a good place to stay, in the end I failed and I wish I had just rebooked somewhere else after the 1st night.
There are positives, as I said the staff were nice, there was a communal area in the entrance with coffee and utilities, luggage can be stored and the location is very near the lift entrance to the Seoul Station underground, the price was about right for the style of place as well.
But in the end I had 4 terrible nights and wanted to book elsewhere, I would not go back and could no in good conscious advise anyone else to go unless major changes were made to...
Read moreGood location near to exit 12 elevator. It’s just that you need to walk uphill and it is quite challenging during snow as the icy pathway can make you stumble and fall. Very simple guesthouse but it is good enough for us but they dont have lift so you need to climb the stairs and bringing your luggage up.They provide breakfast like eggs, bread, milk, cheese, cereals, coffee, green tea, jam, peanut butter but you need to prepare yourself the breakfast and need to keep the area tidy and clean after you use it. They also provide a washing machine and a dryer that can be used from 5pm till 10 pm so plan your washing time wisely. Good for money and i dont mind staying here again in the future. The staff go extra miles to message me in agoda saying thank you for keeping the room clean after check out and I can feel his sincerity and thankfulness. It is a good habit to at least keep the room in a proper condition after check out as a courtesy towards the housekeeping worker and make their life easier. Yes we paid for the service but making others life easier is no...
Read moreWhat I loved||* Convenient location, super short walking distance from Metro/underground station, easy direct trip to either airports (Icheon or Gimpo) ||* Walking distance to Myeong-dong (15 min)||* Air condition worked well||* Economical||* It was clean although the walls looked a little grungy, room was quiet so I got a good night's sleep.||||What you need to know (not necessarily bad but just FYI)||* Breakfast included means you can cook breakfast yourself in the lobby/kitchen area. They provide bread, eggs, coffee and jam. ||* Rooms are really tiny, no space for large luggage, okay for carry on. I stayed in the room myself but my friends shared one and they were super cramped.||* No elevators, so you have to walk up 3 flights of stairs if you are on the 3rd floor||* They have no shower stall so everything gets damp and wet (see pics)||||What I disliked:||* Size of towels. They provide you one hand sized towel. That's it... I couldn't even dry my...
