We stayed around this area for three nights, and the first night we barely saw any street food because it was raining heavily. However, on the second night, which happened to be Saturday with clear weather, the street looked totally different!

There were rows and rows of street food, although they are repetitive at times, many varieties of foods and drinks, let me see if I mentioned some I can remember: baked cheese, mochi, baked corn, octopus, chicken, potato, meat, pomegranate, lemonade, egg bread, blood sausage, roasted water chestnut, takoyaki, wagyu beef satay, rice cake, snail, lamb stick, baked sweet potato, marshmellow ice cream, fruit stick, churros, coconut chicken, steak, fruit cup, dehydrated fruits, korean infamous jajangmyon, glass noodle, roaster lobsters, spring rolls, wafers, fried shrimps, squid game's cookies, steak, and many others you can see in my photos.

Personal preference: octopus stick. The blood sausage is unique as well, there was only one stall, it's acquired taste but it was surprisingly much better than I thought it would be. We tried almost everything, sharing with friends, except some that were too expensive or obvious. The prices were quite expensive though, with average of 6000 Korean won.

Beside the street food, there are many other shops that sell shoes, shirts, handphone accessories, socks, make-ups, cosmetics, restaurants, street music, supermarket, pet shop.

If you stay around this area, it's a must visit. Experience the ambience. Although it's crowded, it's not rowdy and it's safe and you can always get your food because there are so many stalls. It's easy...

Review: Myeongdong Night Market

Myeongdong Night Market is a bustling hub of energy, perfect for food lovers and shopaholics. Located in the heart of Seoul, this vibrant market offers an exciting blend of street food, shopping, and cultural immersion.

Food

The highlight of Myeongdong is undoubtedly its street food. From freshly grilled skewers, tteokbokki, and fried chicken to unique Korean specialties like egg bread (gyeran bbang), and tornado potatoes, there’s something for every palate. Desserts like bingsu, taiyaki, and mochi are must-tries. Prices are reasonable, making it a paradise for snacking.

Shopping

This area is also famous for its beauty shops and fashion stalls. You’ll find Korean skincare and cosmetics brands offering attractive discounts and freebies. Alongside, there are stalls selling trendy clothes, accessories, and souvenirs.

Atmosphere

The market comes alive after sunset with bright lights, lively music, and the aroma of sizzling food. It’s bustling but not overwhelmingly crowded, providing a dynamic yet enjoyable experience. Vendors are friendly and often offer samples.

Tips for Visitors • Timing: Best to visit between 6 PM and 10 PM for the full experience. • Cash/Card: Most stalls accept cash, but larger stores often accept cards. • Language: Basic Korean phrases or gestures work well, as many vendors know some English. • Explore: Walk through side alleys for hidden gems and quieter spots.
