Poker and slots is their main attraction. The poker room on the 2nd floor is great. I'm a blackjack player and was slightly turned off by how they do things. They have 2 blackjack, 1 Texas holdem, and a roulette table. No craps that I saw. As for the blackjack: The dealer doesn't take 2 cards, they only take 1. They take their second card after everyone else plays out their hands This makes it especially annoying when they are showing an ace. Because them getting 21 depends on how many cards everyone else takes. But i was able to get used to that. Everything is digital. You have a touchpad in front of you where you place your bets, hits, splits, double downs, stays, everything. Hand gestures don't work. There is never a re-shuffle of a "shoe". The cards are constantly fed back into a shuffle machine that continuously shuffles the cards. Definitely keeps it random and makes even basic card counting impossible. The shoe scans the cards as they are pulled out. Your screen turns red if you're a bust before you even see the card. Just adds insult to injury. But, once I got more used to it I did ok. Paid for my weekend trip to Madrid, so I can't complain. Other things to note...there is zero table service. There is a button to press if you want service but they never show up. And if you donate to get a drink or even a bottle of water from the bar, the tables have no cup holders. Again, not a deal breaker,...
Read moreI've played poker several times there over the past few years. It's really gone downhill with some of the employees/managers. I ordered fruit (the Spanish guy next to me had it and it looked good) and it took an hour to arrive after asking for it two more times. Had to ask for a menu 3 times and after 20 minutes I still didn't get one. You see, they only want to give Spanish people free food and drinks. And I guess they've found out that it's too much trouble to tell the tourists they have to pay for their food so they just don't serve some tourists even if they want to pay! Poker room manager says food is by invitation only. I asked if I could get some food and he says "depends on what you want". I say fish. He says you must pay. Tourists need to beg for food. I explained the situation to the casino manager and he acted surprised but it's the poker room managers that are telling the waiters not to serve tourists. He put in an order for fish but after waiting another 35 minutes I ended up getting a bocadilla from Oink just down the street from the casino because I was hungry and just wanted something to eat. I went to Casino Colon the next day. What a difference! Their 5/5 Omaha game starts at 4 pm and 2/5 starts later. The entire staff was nice and welcoming. Free food plus Japanese food after 8:30 pm including sushi. Self serve refrigerator full of sodas. Go to Casino Colon for real Spanish...
