Amazing place to spend the day in “Puerto De la Cruz” the prices are very accessible (Two adults €11) very close to downtown, shopping mall, popular beaches, and the main touristic street. The place is by the ocean with 1 big lagoon, 1 pool for kids, 1 pool for chill and 1 shallow for adult with a water fall. Most of the structure was build with volcanic rock making an awesome contrast with the “Teide” volcano btw, you can picture the mountains from your lounger. It is quiet big but get crowded after 11 am so If you plan to visit this place pack your thing a day before to get there at the time they open. The water temperature is between 20 to 24 degrees Celsius, the weather change in the north of the island, most of the time is cloudy on summer but you get sun light for shortly periods. If you get early I suggest you to choose adjustable loungers cos there are not too many and the other are flat and not that comfortable. There are two areas that can rent you sun umbrella for 2.50 and mattress to make your staying more comfortable. The pools are very clean, safe and enjoyable, lifeguards in each pool, restaurants with buffet and snack places around. There is no parking lot for this place and to park in downtown is very complicated, I suggest you to get to the mall two block far from this place called “Martianez mall” what is first hour free. Excellent place to bring the whole family or simply chill with a beer and friends. There is no WiFi in the lounge area but the restaurant has. Bring sun block, towel, hat or cap, snacks, water and goggles. Enjoy this great place

The main complex at Lago Martiánez is amazing to look at but for us, in November, it was closed, for substantial repair work! The rest of the complex is amazing though with 4 pools and a fresh water kiddies pool too. Lots of sun loungers occupied and hammocks too. We visited on a weekend. Big mistake, the place was rammed and we couldn't get in. The cost for non residents is 5€. Not bad for a full days lounging, but with plays Jardin about 2 km walk away and Plays Martiánez about 500m away, we decided to not wait for some to go home so we could get in and headed for Play Martiànez with a picnic from the Hyperdino across the road from it and watch the local Surfing Club do their stuff on the fantastic curling waves in the small cove at Martiánez beach. It was brilliant and cost less money. Quick fact: Agatha Christie was the President of the Puerto De La Cruz Surfing Club, based at Plays Martiánez. She apparently loved the thrill of surfing and took her chance to partake in the sport with her second husband. Who knew that the bold Agatha loved to 'hang ten' on a rip curl eh? Brilliant stuff.

A nice water park! Very cheap, at only 5.5 euros/person for a non-resident. The depth of the pools varies (I think the maximum is about 2m) so that both small children and adults can bathe. Unfortunately, the biggest and more interesting pool is closed for renovation work. The water in the pools is clean but a bit cold, according to my taste (I think about 20-22 degrees). There are clean changing rooms where you can change. I did not like that at the entry point there is no information available about the hours of operation and entry fees. All these are displayed by the employees only after the opening time. Before opening, at the entrance, two queues form. And no one can tell you where to stay. Residents have special prices, subscriptions, one of the queues seemed to be for them, but who understands Spanish?! There are bars, where you can drink something (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) and restaurants where you can eat at a decent price. Kinda crowded.

Astonishing rudeness from the guy on the gate. I arrived at 5pm to meet friends who were already inside since earlier that day. I had checked the signage on the entrance a few days before and there was nothing showing the opening hours, so on a blazing hot June day felt it was safe to assume it would be open into the evening, and possibly to enjoy the sunset. I also messaged my friends I was coming at 5pm, and they were also unaware of the apparent last entry rule of the same time. The website states opening until 7pm in Summer.

When I was refused entry on the pretext the park was closed, I asked if I could just go find my fiends to let them know I had arrived (as messages were not going through) and I was told in no uncertain terms the park was closed. As there were dozens of people still swimming and sunbathing with no signs of them moving, I asked what time they would be asked to leave and he said now, 5pm. I finally got through to my friends on the phone and they asked staff inside the park what time the park closed and they said 6pm.

Arriving at 5pm just after last entry, for a park that is still open and having to stand outside for an hour when your group is inside was frustrating, and unhelpful. I appreciate there are systems in place but the guy had a bad, almost sneering attitude, poked fun, and made me feel about an inch high. He needs a serious lesson in customer service and does a disservice to what appears, from the outside at least, to be a nice spot to...

Why visit Lago Martiánez?

This week we recommend the famous Lago Martiánez in Puerto de la Cruz. This beautiful place is an aquatic gem located in Puerto de la Cruz, 65 km by car from Costa Adeje, where most of our visitors rent our fleet. This resort offers a unique experience for all ages, mixing crystal-clear pools, lush gardens, and stunning sculptures with a wide range of local and themed gastronomy.

What to do there?

The incredible pools: From adult areas to children's play areas, there is something for everyone.

The photos: This place is perfect for selfies and landscape shots, from the top of the city or from the pools.

Varied activities: As well as swimming, you can enjoy water sports such as windsurfing, kayaking, and paragliding.

A place with excellent food: Several restaurants offer delicious culinary options.

How to make the most of your visit

*Arrive early to avoid the crowds. Alternate between swimming pools, sunbathing and strolling through the gardens. *Try a water sport in the afternoon. Enjoy a meal at one of the resort's restaurants.

A plus is the new shopping centre called Martianez, where you are sure to spend an hour or two.

Lago Martianez promises a day full of fun, relaxation and natural beauty; this jewel of Tenerife will leave you with...
