Anusran Market in Chiang Mai is a bustling local market that offers a wide variety of Thai and Western food at very affordable prices. While it’s a decent spot for budget-friendly meals, the overall experience is a mixed bag—good for quick bites but lacking in some areas that prevent it from being a standout destination.

One of the market’s biggest strengths is its diverse food selection. You’ll find classic Thai street food like pad Thai, som tam (spicy papaya salad), grilled meats, and noodle soups, alongside Western options such as burgers, sandwiches, and pizza. The prices are very reasonable, making it a great place for travelers on a budget.

Anusran Market is a typical local market—lively, chaotic, and not the most comfortable for a relaxed meal. The seating areas are basic, often cramped, and not always clean. If you’re looking for a quiet dining experience, this isn’t the place.

The affordability of Anusran Market is its biggest selling point. You can easily get a filling meal for under 100 THB ($3), which is great for backpackers or those looking to save money. However, the low prices sometimes reflect in the quality—portions can be small, and ingredients aren’t always the freshest.

Anusran Market is a solid option if you’re looking for cheap, varied food in Chiang Mai. It’s convenient, especially if you’re staying nearby, and offers enough choices to satisfy different tastes. However, it doesn’t stand out in terms of food quality, ambiance, or cleanliness compared to other markets like Warorot or the North Gate Jazz Co-op area.

Pros: ✔ Affordable prices ✔ Wide variety of Thai and Western food ✔ Authentic local market experience

Cons: ✖ Inconsistent food quality ✖ Crowded and noisy ✖ Hygiene could be improved

If you’re in the area and want a quick, cheap meal, Anusran Market is worth a stop. But if you’re looking for the best street food in Chiang Mai, there are better...

Anusarn Market is another wonder of Chiang Mai, you feel you are in shopping wonderland where the shops never stop, every time you explore a new street, or a bend in the road, you end up with yet more and more stalls to explore. Anusarn market is situated to the south of the night bazaar and shouldn't be passed, as you will miss the very long market that extends for about 300 to 400m filled with stalls. Foodie heaven and shoppers delight. The market gives you a different view of what is normally offered at the Night market and you will be surprised at what new you will see here. Let your senses take you and explore every part until your legs drop off or when your full trying all of the local food stalls. Recommendation: Try everything in sight, the local foods buy small portions so you can carry on trying other new exciting flavours. Haggle with the stalls and have fun, dont feel afraid to barter but remain respectful...

This is part of the Chiang Mai Night Market. Similar to Kalare Night Market, it has a large shopping area, lots of food stalls, and restaurants. Food there is cheap and great with lots of different varieties. The food market has live music. One of the singers is a secondary school girl. Her family also run a small stall at the market selling shopping bags drawn by the little girl. She can also draw to your order but you need to wait for about 20 minutes. Prices vary. I bought a small one and it costed me THB150. Their IG is mobilecnxthailand. I was so impressed by the little girl when I first visited the market a couple of days ago when she was singing Hotel Carlifornia within an acoustic guitar in Bossa Nova style.

The Night Market is a dangerous place. You would unconsciously spend a lot of money and gain a...

Probably the best night/street market in Chiang Mai. Very happening and very multicultural crowd. Friendly sellers, open to fair negotiations/bargaining. It's very versatile and colourful. (Refer. to pictures). Lots of clothing shops, handmade crafts, souvenir shops/stalls here. This is one of the most interesting street markets I've been to with a lot of variety. It's also decorated with very cute and bright lights all-around which adds up to the immersion and atmosphere. It has a very nice street food thai food section aswell with heaps of stalls selling various kind of yummy food. Vegetarian options are not so many and make sure you mention no oyster sauce or egg if you are a vegetarian because in here egg/oyster sauce is not considered non-vegetarian like most south asian countries. Highly recommended. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
