Na Kalare Massage — Local services in Chiang Mai Province

My sister and I went in the evening and neither of us had a particularly good massage. My main issue was the 'grinding' the women felt it was necessary to do on my bum. I have had several massages in south east Asia so am used to the masseuse sitting on me, but they hadn't rubbed in that rather disturbing way before. I also found the time spent on my neck (squeezing) far too long which was then hit way too hard for any part of the body but especially the neck. This as well as the heel of her foot pressed firmly on my spine several time to get it to bend seemed harmful. My sister ended up with bruises from the massage from being hit and they also have managed to hurt her leg (still painful after several hours and she suspects it will get worse before it gets better). On the positive side it was reasonably cheap, air-conditioned...

They open until 12mn, but my masseuse seemed drained of energy when we started our session at 10pm. I had a foot massage which seemed more like a session where she smoothed Thai balm over my feet and calves. There was no strength (and I hadn't even said if I wanted a soft or hard massage). The best part was when she used a small stick to massage my feet - it was the firmest massage of the session, but even that felt so light, it got ticklish at some points.

For 180 baht (60min), it's extremely cheap, but it was so bad I wouldn't even pay 10 baht to spend one hour...

Excellent prices and excellent service! I received a 1 hour back, shoulder and foot massage for 180 baht. Phim (I think that’s how you spell her name) did a very thorough and amazing job. Perfect amount of pressure, did not neglect any areas. The place is very clean and simple. Quiet and relaxing atmosphere with gentle music and waterfall sound in the background. You get a nice cup of tea at the end. I enjoyed it so much, towards the end I almost asked to extend my 1 hour massage to 2 hours. Would absolutely come back here again next time I am...
