8 MUST VISIT TEMPLES IN CHIANG MAI: 🛕Wat Sri Suphan Known as the silver temple, you will see why! This temple was originally built in the Mangrai dynasty but has now been renovated to include pop culture references. Visit and see how many you can find. But note, women are not allowed inside this temple 🛕Wat Rajamontean A very small Buddhist temple, with a huge statue of Buddha right off the main road. You won’t find many other people here when you visit. The stairway up to the temple is so photogenic 🛕Wat Lok Moli Right across the street from the above temple, make a quick stop in to see the ornate details 🛕Wat Phra That Doi Suthep Probably the most famous temple in Chiang Mai, but also the furthest from the city. This temple will require a taxi ride up the hill, and many stairs to climb, but the views are totally worth it! 🛕Wat Pha Lat Don’t skip this one if you are already visiting Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, it’s on the way back to Chiang Main center and way less crowded! 🛕Wat Suan Dok One of the more quiet temples that also features a historic mausoleum 🛕Wat Phra Singh Woranahawihan Notable by its many gold pagodas, this is a beautiful kept temple with lots of greenery. Google says it doesn’t open till 9am, but I think it opens way earlier, as it was already crowded when we arrived at 9am. 🛕Wat Chedi Luang Smack dab in the heart of Chiang Mai, this might not be the prettiest temple, but definitely the most significant as the main pillar is believed to protect the city of Chiang Mai. You can’t go wrong with stopping by any of the many temples in Chiang Mai that look interesting to you as you pass by. They are all so different and unique. 📌 Save this for easy future planning! #chiangmaithailand #chiangmaitrip #chiangmai #thailandtemple #thailandtravel #visitthailand #visitchiangmai

My experience at Wat Phra Singh Woramahawihan was nothing short of captivating. Nestled in the heart of Chiang Mai, this temple is a testament to Thai architectural splendor and spiritual serenity. As I walked through the intricately adorned gates, I was immediately struck by the meticulous craftsmanship of the temple's structures. Each detail, from the ornate gables to the golden spires reaching skyward, spoke of centuries-old devotion and artistic mastery. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the main hall, where a magnificent Buddha statue radiated a profound sense of tranquility. The gentle glow of candlelight and the fragrant aroma of incense heightened the spiritual ambiance, inviting visitors into a contemplative state. The walls adorned with vibrant murals depicting Buddhist teachings further enriched the experience, offering glimpses into Thailand's rich cultural tapestry. Beyond its architectural grandeur, Wat Phra Singh Woramahawihan also boasts lush gardens that provide a peaceful retreat from the bustling city outside. Strolling through the well-tended grounds, adorned with fragrant frangipani and towering palms, I felt a deep connection to nature and the spiritual history of the place. While my visit was immensely rewarding, I would advise planning to avoid peak hours to fully savor the tranquility and avoid crowds. Despite this minor consideration, Wat Phra Singh Woramahawihan remains a pinnacle of Thai spirituality and cultural heritage. Whether you're a history enthusiast, an architecture buff, or simply seeking moments of reflection, this temple offers a profound journey into the heart of Thailand's soul. A visit here is not just a sightseeing experience, but a spiritual odyssey that leaves a lasting impression.

Wat Phra Singh Woramahawihan is a stunning and culturally significant temple located in the heart of Chiang Mai, Thailand. The temple's name translates to "Temple of the Lion Buddha", and it is home to a revered statue of the Buddha known as Phra Buddha Sihing. During my recent visit, I was fortunate enough to witness a funeral ceremony at the temple. It was an awe-inspiring experience, as hundreds of people from various Thai tribes came together to pay their respects and honor the deceased. The traditional dance performances and live music played on unique Thai instruments added a layer of solemn beauty to the event. But even without the ceremony, Wat Phra Singh Woramahawihan is a must-see attraction. The temple's stunning architecture and intricate details are a testament to the skill and dedication of Thai craftsmen. The gold leaf that adorns many of the structures creates a sense of majesty and reverence. Inside the temple, you'll find intricate murals depicting the life of the Buddha, as well as other important religious figures. The temple also houses a small museum showcasing Buddhist artifacts and historical relics. Visitors should note that Wat Phra Singh Woramahawihan is an active temple, and it is important to show respect to the local culture and customs. Dress modestly, remove your shoes before entering any buildings, and avoid any behavior that could be considered disrespectful. In conclusion, Wat Phra Singh Woramahawihan is a beautiful and culturally significant temple that should not be missed by anyone visiting Chiang Mai. Whether you're there to witness a ceremony or simply to admire the stunning architecture and artwork, you're sure to leave with a greater appreciation for Thai culture and history.

One of the most iconic locations when visiting Chiang Mai. Not too many people in the afternoon on a Saturday. Note that Google maps says it is free, but only for locals. Tourists pay 50B each, at least for adults. Bring sunscreen, or umbrellas. Easy to remove shoes if you want to go inside the sites of worship. Clothing requirements not enforced unless extreme. You will have to rent shirts and pants if they do not cover your knees and shoulders, or have revealing attires. Children SOMETIMES, exempted from this, but not all. Tickets can be purchased with cash. Snacks and refreshments available for purchase inside. Handicap ramps and elevators help facilitate wheelchair access. Some handicap entry points, but not for all stairs. You might have to take your shoes off some places. They were safe, but our shoes were not fancy. Beware pick pocketing. Museums included in the ticket, but beware you cannot take photos or videos in some areas.

My visit to Wat Phra Singh Woramahawihan was truly rewarding. The architectural magnificence and unique brilliance of the temple were captivating. The golden spires reaching toward the sky, the breathtaking golden Buddha, and the mini Buddha statues adorned with golden foil were all stunning. The lush gardens and the sight of Buddhist monks in their orange robes left me in awe. The rain and cloudy weather felt like a gift from nature, as it would have been less enjoyable if it were sunny. The temple was not crowded, likely due to the rain. The entry fee was 50 Baht, with free entry for Thai locals. The fragrant aroma of incense and the vibrant, multi-colored scripture writings hanging around the temple added to the picture-perfect atmosphere. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Chiang Mai, as it is a testament to the rich Buddhist culture, history, and architecture.
