My mom's birthday is soon and I wanted to do something nice for her. Her favorite comedian is Sebastian Maniscalco and he was doing a tour in Windsor at the Casino, so I took the chance and bought tickets.
Getting across the border from Detroit has finally opened back up to those vaccinated and unvaccinated, so no covid tests or proof of vaccination's required! Yippie. I like that this place is right over the border, so you don't have to drive to much through Windsor-tucky to get here. LOL. There's self serve parking for free, and I think Valet's free for a small tip.
To get here you have to completely cut through the casino. Fine. Please add an extra 15 minutes to your travel time when coming here since you can't really pull right up and just walk in.
When we actually got into the Colosseum, it was somewhat easy to figure out. There's tons of walking, and lots of ushers to help out here. The venue itself is smaller in size but every seats a great view, so that helps. I will say, there's plenty of leg room (or, as one of the usher's told us, dancing room) so you can comfortably put your stuff down and it's NOT cramped like a movie theatre where everyone has to get up when someone enters or exits the row.
The seats themselves are sort of comfy, but not really. Ok, not really. They were at first, but after about 15 minutes my back started to get sore. Seats felt kind of cheap and could have been better considering how much tickets cost to come here. So, I docked a star for that. Please, upgrade your most uncomfy seats!
Also, the venue was remarkably cold. Like remarkably cold. After my back went numb from the uncomfortable seats, I started getting the shivers. I had left my coat in the car and I wasn't about to go back to get it either. Epic fail.
Another thing. I kept seeing advertisements for Sebastian's merchandise for sale with a QR code on one of the monitors on the stage. I thought, well maybe they have a table out here some where. nope. I don't know if that's the star's choice or the Casino's, but there was nothing.
They have a basic bar area here within the venue for wine, beer in cans, juice, water and I think maybe one or two mixed drinks. Very simple and basic, but good. Prices seemed on point. Juices were $2.50, $3.00 for water, and I forgot how much the booze was. You can use your card and pay cash.
The stage itself was awesome. Cool blue lighting, great audio and visual effects, sound was a bit loud but clear, which was great. Place was clean and lots of people around to help and answer questions. Overall a fabulous location and not far from Metro Detroit. I plan on going back since it's a lot easier and sometimes cheaper to see concerts or shows here versus Little Ceaser's or Ford Field, especially...
Read moreThere's free self parking and it's colour plus name coded. Just remember the colour and name plus floor number. The parking lot is very busy but there's plenty of spots too. The gaming areas are bright and lots of security staff. The staff are friendly and helpful when we have questions. For someone who doesn't go much to thr casino, it gets confusing because you can get lost easily in the people traffic, even though they have signs hanging from the ceilings. Long line ups for dining and bars when it's packed with people. We were told to make reservations for lunch or dinner, because of how busy it gets. We've been to one of the bars and it was ok. We don't go to the bars much so I can't review it properly. There's some restaurants here, from casual to fine dining. Check out their website. We went to watch a concert. The staff was highly energetic and showed us our seats. They have bars areas that sells alcoholic drinks and water before the show. They don't have a big selection of drinks but they try to show you alternatives to what you had in mind and encourage you to try that drink instead if they don't have what you want. I thought that was a nice idea. The prices are expensive but its a bar, so they need to make profit. The sound was great at the concert and the lights were pretty awesome. Our seats were clean but squeaky when other people were sitting in the seats around us. I had no trouble seeing the stage and there's two huge screens that shows the concert stage too. We've been to a music concerts and a magic show. The tickets for the shows depends on where it located. You can get perks being a part of their rewards program. I'm not in it, so I'm not reviewing that. There's lots of staircases, elevators and escalaters to navigate through the casino. Kids are allowed at some shows if it's aimed for kids and brunches. I've taken the kids to the mother's day brunches and those are like thr buffets that they use to have. It's very culinary and many selections. Kids aren't allowed to go through the casino but there's ways to enter from the outside. I've been inside their hotel rooms in the past and they are roomy. The rooms are clean. They have weddings and event rooms. I enjoyed the wedding we'd been to in the past, and they have great services with dining. I hope this place continues to provide a nice place for people to go to, have more kids or family oriented events and keep up with its...
Read moreMany people including myself that bought tickets for the blues brothers concert where turned away from the parking garage due to it being full. No big deal right? Except for there only being 2 workers at the entrance of the parking lot to deal with the hundreds of cars gridlocked in line wrapping around city blocks. So after a hour we finally got our turn to hear the parking officer tell us there is no parking, it's full. And told us we had to find our own parking. Not a huge deal. Most fans of the blues brothers are my age and up. So 40s+. And some of us have physical ailments which prevents us from certain types of physical activity. The walk to the casino from where we finally found a parking spot was pretty far. I haven't been able to stand, walk or sit since that day a week ago yesterday. Extremely poor handling of the garage overflow situation. 2 people to deal with hundreds of cars. Sorry, it's full. You have to find your own parking. That's totally fine!! Even if there was 4 extra parking officers out there and put them on BOTH sides of the street it would have made that gridlocked traffic jam to have never existed. Then the already late concertgoers would never of had to walked so fast so they wouldn't miss what they paid for. We seen a lady in her 60s that was dressed up like Jake and Elwood and she missed the whole thing because she parked where we did and she couldn't make the walk. So she left. And as for me. Yes I did walk fast. Yes I am now bed ridden since that night. otherwise, it was a pleasure seeing jim and Dan aka the...
