Chatham Street Diner — Restaurant in Ontario

Coming down to the Chatham street diner has always been delightful with such great customer service! But today was nothing but frustration for me, and I'm sure for others around me as well. The server was great, she's very enthusiastic about her job, and tries to stay on top of all the orders, but with no help she falls behind and forgets things. I was there for an hour and a half, which should of been an hr max. I had to wait numerous times for my slices of tomatoes that I wanted to eat with the rest of the now cold breakfast. I also asked for extra napkins that should of just been brought to us with the food, in which I still never ended up getting, and just decided to grab paper towel from the bathroom. After my ice coffee was finished, I should of been asked if I wanted more or something else to drink, but I waited on the waitress and finally asked for an ice water, which again took some time to get, as I know she was very busy with the other customers. She is such a great aspect to the restaurant and it would really help if there were two of her! I've been coming to your restaurant now for awhile. I know a couple cooks and waitresses that have worked for you, not just at this establishment but also a couple others as well; the patio, just to name one, and I've never felt such frustration, for myself and a waitress as well. I'm not writing to you for any compensation, or recognition. I'm just reaching out to you on behalf of your regular customers, to help with lightening the load of the waitress, to be able to enjoy the atmosphere more! Great food, great customer service. Okay start with the positive stuff but was some stuff that definitely could have been done better. First impressions customer service was beyond excellent, friendly and helpful and welcoming, prices are amazing, place is clean and friendly environment. Food everything but what I will be talking about (steak and poached eggs) was 10/10. Now reviews are meant to help places know where to improve so yes many things were amazing but this is why 4/5 stars. Ordered steak breakfast combo with a bagel instead and cream cheese, and grilled onions, cheese and shredded onions added to both my combos fries. Neither fries had green onions on them that I paid extra for $1.6 gone, bagel did not come with cream cheese either was pretty disappointed at that. Ordered whipped cream on the sufe for pancakes with both combos didn't receive one. Steak was okay for its price but little flavor was very watery, cooked the way I asked but could have been a lot better. 2 poached eggs I ordered unfortunate to say was the worst poached eggs I've had before, very watery and done poorly. And bacon was very dry and hard. So those things could have been a lot better but, everything else was amazing, I do recommend this place and would go back it just needs some improvements and to not rush things as thats how things are missed or not done well. I do not recommend ordering from here if you have allergies. My friend has celiac disease, she ordered here from UberEats because they claim to be allergy friendly. The first two times she had a good experience. She asks for toast separately because her husband will eat it, but she cannot have it touch her food or have any cross contamination. She makes a note to say she has celiac. And adds an allergy request on Uber.

The third time it arrived with the toast on her food so she couldn't eat anything. All the food was undercooked too. But they offered her a credit and she gave them another chance.

Ordered again today. Same thing, toast on her food. You shouldn't advertise being allergy friendly if you're not actually going to be allergy friendly. People can get sick. If they can't even put toast in a separate package, I don't trust they avoid cross contamination either.

If you don't have allergies, this is usually a good place to eat. Other than one bad experience which they were willing to compensate for. If you have food allergies I...
