Finally, an authentic shawarma spot in Windsor that hits all the right notes! As someone who grew up enjoying premium shawarma in Houston's vibrant Middle Eastern food scene, I've been searching for a place that measures up – and Steak and Shawarma absolutely delivers.
Let's start with their signature shawarma: both the chicken and beef are expertly seasoned and cooked to perfection. Their shawarma poutine is a standout dish that perfectly fuses Middle Eastern flavors with Canadian comfort food. The rice accompanying the dishes is perfectly prepared, with just the right texture.
What sets this place apart isn't just the food – it's the exceptional hospitality. The owner went above and beyond, personally walking me through their three unique house sauces, offering samples to ensure I found my perfect match. Each sauce brought something special to the table, and this attention to detail really enhanced the dining experience.
The value here is outstanding. I ordered a ribeye steak for 25 CAD that came with sides – an incredibly fair price point for the quality and portion size. The steak was cooked precisely to my requested temperature, showcasing their expertise beyond just Middle Eastern cuisine.
The warm, welcoming atmosphere makes you feel like a valued guest rather than just another customer. It's clear that the team here takes pride in both their food and service, creating an experience that rivals the 24-hour shawarma spots I frequented in Houston.
If you're in Windsor and craving authentic Middle Eastern cuisine or just looking for a great meal with exceptional service, don't hesitate to visit Steak and Shawarma. This place has officially ended my search for premium shawarma in Windsor – I'll definitely...
Read moreCame into this place early evening on a Saturday and things were fairly quiet. I ordered a chicken platter with fries, and my girlfriend ordered a falafel wrap. She also ended up asking about their sauces, all of which are homemade, and available for order!
They had some pretty interesting sauce flavors, from the standard sweet spicy (MUST try), to some more fruity flavors like spicy mango, spicy raspberry, to some VERY interesting flavors like an avocado sauce. The owners were AMAZING - they let us sample each sauce while telling us about exactly what went into each sauce (the avocado doesn’t have any sugar!). They gave us a complimentary little plastic container of the avocado sauce - by far our favorite. The avocado sauce wasn’t watered down AT ALL, very thick and full of avocado flavor. Don’t expect anything like guacamole, it’s still definitely a sauce.
Back to the main food - falafel was freshly prepared and fried (we had to wait a bit, which of course is expected), and the chicken shawarma was amazing. Generous portions of garlic sauce and hummus. The side salad was nicely dressed as well, wasn’t an afterthought or anything. The avocado sauce definitely gives me California vibes and I enjoyed it with the fries (although some may give me side eye for saying that).
The owners are a very friendly couple, and the restaurant gave off friendly, neighborhood vibes. They recognize regulars by the voice when they order, joke around with their customers, and even talked about and offered us samples for their rice, which they suggested for me the next time I come by, which can’t be...
Read moreMy mind is blown. Steak n Shawarma is a whole new take on Middle Eastern cuisine. The food is out of this world. My husband and I consider ourselves to be tough food critics and have eaten everywhere around the world. The chef here has such a strong attention to detail; so much so that he has created his own spice blends and sauces that are beyond amazing. I ordered the shawarma plate and let me tell you; each bite was a new, delicious experience. My husband had the philly steak sub (Best he ever had), and also was compelled to try the shawarma sandwich of course (better than anywhere in Lebanon- yes, I said it). These secret sauces made by the owner himself are LIFE CHANGING. This place should be featured on The Food Network. They have this amazing avocado sauce, the sweet heat is a must try, there is a spicy blackberry and even a spicy watermelon to name a few. Spicy coconut debuts on Monday- can’t wait! This is not just Windsor’s hidden gem.... People from the GTA and the States actually drive all the way here just for their Shawarma. The owners, Ali and Hanna are the kindest, coolest, most generous people you will find! We are so happy that we discovered this place and you will be too....
