Istiklal Street in Istanbul is an absolute must-visit location when exploring the city. This vibrant and bustling street offers a unique blend of history, culture, shopping, and entertainment that is not to be missed. I end up visiting this place many times over the years. Strolling along Istiklal Street is a feast for the senses. The lively atmosphere is filled with the sounds of street musicians, the tantalizing aroma of street food, and the constant buzz of people going about their day. The street is lined with an eclectic mix of shops, boutiques, cafes, and restaurants, catering to every taste and interest. One of the highlights of Istiklal Street is its rich history. It has witnessed significant moments in Istanbul's past and continues to be a symbol of the city's cosmopolitan character. The beautifully preserved historic buildings that line the street add a touch of charm and grandeur to the overall ambiance. As you explore Istiklal Street, you'll come across hidden gems such as art galleries, theaters, and cultural institutions. There's always something happening, whether it's an art exhibition, a live performance, or a vibrant street festival. The street truly comes alive, offering a dynamic and engaging experience. From traditional Turkish cuisine to international flavors, the diverse range of restaurants and food stalls cater to every palate. Whether you're craving a hearty kebab, mouthwatering street food, or a sweet treat, you'll find plenty of options to satisfy your cravings. Such a wonderful street full of people from the whole globe. This is literally the best place to do shopping with all major brands both local and international. You can also get great good joints and coffee joints while on your shopping spree. Don’t forget to visit the square and take mineable photos there. The old tram is such a vibe, you only need your Istanbul card to use it and it’s affordable. If you love taking social media pictures and videos, you won’t run out of content here since there is lots of performance on the streets by dancers, musicians, different artistes as well as general beautiful shops to pop in and window shop. The Turkish Delights shops on istkilal street have a variety of sweets and different Turkish Treats for your tastebuds. If you love Turkish Food, I would highly recommend you try the Tradional Turkish Kumpir in Patates along this street. There are two, so google the locations and visit them, your taste buds will thank you. As a cat lover, I sometimes just come here to pet some cats chilling on the streets and there are some few friendly cats near the Sishane Train station entrance along istiklal street that you can chill and take pictures with.

It’s an okay shopping street if you have a few hours to spend. 💸 You can find quite inexpensive shops with tax free items, however be careful when you talk to the merchants as they often lie about the discounts you are gonna get. 🛍️❌ Also I didn’t like the variety of shops. There were multiple locations of the same brands in the span of 300 meters, which I found very unnecessary, as they offered the same products. ⚠️👮🏼♀️ Some caution about the police that’s there. If you see them enclosing the premises get out as quickly as you can. They cannot speak English at all and will not give you proper explanation as to why they don’t let you outside. Is someone important coming, is there a parade, is there a protest??? How can you get out??? Nobody knows🤷🏼♀️save yourself the trouble and just head out.

One of the most famous and important streets in the world, usually when you step into such places for the first time, you get a strange and pleasant feeling, especially if it is a historical place and an identity of a country and people. Istiklal is one of the places where history and culture are hidden, from its metro station, which is the second oldest metro station in the world, to the Galata Tower, which is a memory from the Middle Ages, or the old buildings and the oldest high school in Turkey, and finally, St. Anthony's Church, which is magnificent and It has given a special grandeur to this street. When I arrived at the entrance of the street, I paused for a little while. I had a pleasant feeling that I was now standing at this point in history and the world.

İstiklal’in ara sokaklarına daldın mı, bambaşka dünyalara açılırsın. Çiçek Pasajı’nda bir akşam yemeği, Balık Pazarı’nda taze deniz ürünleri... Asmalımescit’in sokakları cıvıl cıvıl, her köşede ayrı bir eğlence. Canın müzik mi çekti? Sokak müzisyenleri sana her türden müziği sunar. Jazz, rock, pop... Ne istersen var! Gece hayatı mı? Ahhh, İstiklal’in geceleri bir başka olur. Barlar, meyhaneler, gece kulüpleri... Her telden müzik, her türden mekan var. Bir bara gir, canlı müziğin tadını çıkar, dans et sabaha kadar. Sokaklar dolup taşar, her köşe başında ayrı bir şenlik. Sanat meraklıları buraya! Galeriler, sergiler, tiyatrolar, sinemalar... İstiklal, sanatın merkezi. Bir sergi gez, bir tiyatro oyunu izle, sinemada bir film kap. Sanatın her dalını burada bulursun. Ve tabii ki tarihi binalar, cumbalı evler... İstiklal Caddesi’nin her köşesi tarih kokar.
