I am so incredibly disappointed that I chose here to celebrate my partners birthday. The waiter with the glasses was unbelievably rude and weirdly aggressive as soon as we arrived. I’d said we were celebrating a birthday when I booked but there was no acknowledgement when we arrived.

I don’t understand it at all as there was only a couple of tables, it was a Wednesday night so not at all busy. The waiters hostility was actually quite uncomfortable.

The food was a real let down as the menu listed ingredients that weren’t in the dishes and the ingredients and flavours weren’t really anything. Feel awful to say that but it’s true, I feel cat fished by the menu. The presentation of the dishes is totally different to what’s shown online. The buns were so basic and poorly presented. It said they came with kimchi but couldn’t see it anywhere. Also I don’t understand why one set came with pickled ginger and one didn’t.

After we’d finished the mains, the waiter bought out the menus again and opened on the dessert menu pages without asking if everything was ok. When we asked for the bill it took about 20 mins to come, again despite there being about 3 other tables, then he bought out a birthday dessert for my partner, which would have been a nice touch but there was no spoon or anything to eat it with 😂 everything seemed like way too much effort and that we were inconveniencing him by even being there.

I did so much research to find somewhere special for my partners birthday and thought I could trust Terre a Terre to deliver, however I really wish I’d have booked somewhere else or Burnt Orange 😢

*edit: I received a phone call from someone at Terre a Terre after I posted this review who proceeded to ask me if what I’d written regarding the waiters behaviour was ‘true’ - I find that pretty insulting. If we’d have had a great evening, why would I leave a bad review?

He also said that he’s a great waiter - cool, that definitely wasn’t our experience though. I assume the call was meant to make amends but it only irritated me more and I couldn’t wait to get off the phone to this person as it was a waste of time. They’ve replied below to say they take the feedback seriously, yet that wasn’t the impression he gave on the phone at all. He offered to send some vouchers but why would I go back somewhere that’s repeatedly been...

I was looking for a restaurant to have lunch that was vegan, and by searching on google we’ve discovered Terre à Terre which it is vegetarian and vegan and decided to give it a try. We had no ideia about what to choose because the description on the menu was a bit complex with lots of names that we never heard of, due to that we’ve decided to ask for advice from the staff. We were advised to try the tapas which they described as really good, they also mentioned if we decided to go for that it would be a good ideia to order a portion of chips to complement it. I was a bit unsure of what to expect and wondering why should I have a side of chips that costs £6.95 when I was going to have a dish that costs £23.95 per person that can only be ordered in multiples of 2. I’ve never paid that much for a dish that would make me feel the need to have an extra side as a complement. The person who served our food, explained in detail what we would be eating and advised us on which foods we should have first and explain why. Some was really good and some not so much, some of the flavours doesn’t seem to go well together, I felt overwhelmed with too many flavours in one dish only, sometimes minus is more and in this case I wish more of some items and none of others. I should never go for a shared platter because, from my experience almost always I feel I’m paying too much for what I’m getting and the mixed of flavours is too much. We couldn’t finish the chips because it’s not a good combination of a variety of Japanese flavours and then some chips in between, it’s not a good suggestion and I wish it hasn’t been advised to us. I ended up feeling that I’ve paid way too much for what I ate, and to make it worse I’ve developed strong pain in my stomach about 20 minutes after I’ve finished eating. I had my lunch at about 2.30pm, is now almost 8pm and I haven’t been able to eat anything else as I’m still in pain and agony. I don’t think the pain has been caused by the quality of the food at all, which it was good and very fresh, but I believe it’s from the huge amount of strong flavours mixed together which entered my stomach like a bomb and ruined the rest of my day. We ended up paying almost £60 for 1 coke, 1 shared tapas and 1 portion of chips, no starters, no desserts and I had tap water. I’m certainly...

Terre á Terre vegetarian dish restaurant at East street in Brighton , just a short walk from the sea . The ambiance and atmosphere were nice, so well discreet and friendly. It was a Sunday evening and plenty of tables to choose. My first impression was the unpleasant smell of some kind of food or oily odour which was explained by waiter that it was a dish ordered by a customer sitting close to our table ! For me it seems to be a poor quality ventilation system. As it was my first visit, I’ve decided to order “ Terre á Tapas” as we could taste a verity of different vegetarian dishes. It could only be served for minimum of two persons to share. We decided to have Kombuchas drinks with our meals . It was very speedy food service as in a matter of 10-15 minutes we had our drinks and soon after our meal platter arrived, which made us to feel like it was a ready platter prepared in-advanced! (taking into consideration that 11 different types of Tapas were made and placed on that platter .) !! 🤷🏻 The food was well presented and delicious but I wish they could serve them in a larger or more than one plate as it was practically impossible to eat them without mixing some of those ingredients with each other. I could carefully take each and one of Tapas from the platter into my plate but sadly they kept be mixed . it wasn’t a pleasant experience for a person like me with trained palate and sensitive taste buds. For dessert we decided to share a ginger nosey Parkin as we both enjoy ginger and love ice-cream but instead we received something else which happens to be “ brûlée vus “ ! And guess what ? It was exquisite and delicious . We decided not to say anything but enjoy the pudding 😊. On all, I love the place , food and ambiance But I wish they serve their food fresh , use larger plate or more than one plate for so many dishes , as well better ventilation. I’ll be definitely back soon as I like the experimental vegetarian food combination as they were great . Please follow me on Instagram! You can find me at...

I came here for Valentine’s Day and I have not stopped thinking about it since. Beautiful and intimate atmosphere, even though it was busy. We had the Valentine’s set menu for 2 and it was out of this world, three courses all so beautifully displayed and full of so many different flavours. I’ve never dined with a set menu so I was very excited to see what it would be like, my partner too is a little apprehensive with new foods so it was a food adventure for us both. I’ve never been to a restaurant where the waiter has to explain the intricacies of what’s on the plate when it arrives! The food just left us speechless, it was too good to be true. As a vegan diner, I’m used to only having three options to pick from, so it was amazing to have so much eccentric food to dig into - as well as a long vegan wine list; I find it so hard to find a certified vegan red wine, let alone a tasty one! All the staff were so attentive; they brought our next plates the moment we finished ours and asked us if we wanted refills when they noticed our glasses were empty - we didn’t have to usher them over once. Each one who served us was so lovely, but I only got the name of one - a lovely chap called Dirk! He was so great in helping me navigate the extensive menu and gave wonderful recommendations, he had a generally wonderful bubbly energy and was very funny too. Thank you Dirk!! I am already so excited to go back, but I feel like this night was so special and sacred that I’m going to have to do my best to keep away… for at least a week or two. This place is perfect for a vegan, romantic, fine-dining experience, and I’ll remember it always.
