TERRIBLE!! Should have gone to McDonalds!! We ordered x3 adult meals x2 children meals at a fish and chip shop x2 fish x1 chicken burger x2 chicken nuggets x2 regular chips We were immediately not happy with the fish & chicken burger and went back into the shop to get a refund. A receipt was manually written upon taking back the food to the counter, the server specfically said that she was not authorised to do a refund and said to ring a number given the next day. Should have stayed until i got a refund!! Plus I was thinking, will someone answer the next day when ringing the number. To my amazement I phoned merchant the next day, spoke to a lady and she said they would be happy to do the refund, but she couldn't find the transaction ending in with the last 4 digits of my card. We left it to see if it would appear a few days later. Spoke to a man a few days later and he said he was aware of the refund required but they still couldn't see the transaction of the same amount £43.65 with the credit card I used. He said the only transaction he had of the same value at the time we ordered the food was ending with a different card number. How can this be, they clearly have fudged the transactions. So even though the kids ate their chicken nuggets, thankfully they didnt get ill from them, I am out of pocket £25. But you live and learn. Prob the last time a visit a Fish and Chip shop.

Really strange place. Told us that next door Cafe was owned by same people and had more options if we didn't just want fish and chips. We then ordered fish and chips from here and a jacket potato from next door only to be told that we couldn't sit outside their cafe with the fish and chips and we couldn't sit outside the fish chips shop with the jacket potato. They later even said that both businesses weren't related and not sure who said that when the lady was standing right there lol. Absolutely rubbish service and food. Just look at the "famous cod" that we ordered. I ordered a chicken burger and they refused to put sauce INSIDE THE burger, they said that they don't put sauce in burgers. Spent £30 which was a waste. Would NEVER go here again. Don't even trust their "halal certificate".

Shocking. As Manager of a Fish & Chip Restaurant, Takeaway. I'm appalled at the quality of the food this guy is passing off as Fish & Chips. £38 for 3 Fish & Chips & 1 Chips,Peas & Gravy. Ok where in a Seaside town on a Bank Holiday but come on. Fish was fried within an inch of its life with 20mm Batter, sorry (Yorkshire Pudding mix). To top it off they only accept Card payment. Service was slow, staff were rude. If this was my Team I would be horrified. It's a crying shame as there was a que a mile long not knowing what they were letting them selves into. I myself & my family were some of those people. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. He's only got one Star as I cant give him Zero. Get your act together my friend. Your establishment is a Shambles. Only wish I'd read the Reviews before hand.

Dreadful Fawlty Towers-esque experience yesterday

Waited a ridiculously long time to order and then to get our food. The food eventually arrived minus the scampi and chips we’d ordered - that was (further) delayed. When the scampi came, there were no chips. I raised this with the lady serving and she insisted the chips had already been delivered. They hadn’t. She refused to accept this, wasting still more of my and other customers’ time. I pointed out that it was fine if she’d misheard my original order and that I’d pay for another regular chips - amazingly she refused as she was sticking to her insistence that she’d delivered the chips all along! I pointed to our table to demonstrate the reality but she remained in denial…

The man cooking came out from the back. Not only was he unapologetic about this further waste of our time - he even said that the delay to the scampi was not his fault or concern! And proceeded to rifle through receipts to get to the bottom of this. He couldn’t find our receipt (which matches the suggestions of dubious book keeping in previous reviews here) and reluctantly proceeded to throw some chips in a tray for us, telling us to calm down after all this song and dance and the hysterical, irrational response we had received throughout

The food itself was mediocre - chips from frozen, fish a bit stale (having been sat on the counter all day presumably, which makes the delays more mystifying…). The place was dirty and there weren’t enough seats

Ultimately the experience was so bad it was almost worth it. You do wonder how some people can possibly wind up embarking on a business in ‘hospitality’. They were incompetent and chronically charmless. Can only imagine they rely on passing tourist trade who don’t consult these reviews. (There was no mobile data for me in Llandudno anyway, so perhaps lots of people aren’t able to do so)

If business is so tight they can’t afford to skip the rigmarole and just throw a few more chips in a tray, their days must be numbered. But in the meantime I hope they keep delivering comedic value -...

I have used George’s Plaice for fish n chips for a number of years and would always recommend to others but not any more! I visited Llandudno on Monday 25th October with my disabled son, I decided a fish n chip dinner as he enjoys it very much(usually) the order was 1cod, 1 fishcake,1 portion of chips to share a carton of peas also a carton of curry sauce.l was advised there were no fish cakes so opted for chicken nuggets as a replacement. The total card payment was £16-95.l was asked to wait outside and would be called in when it was ready.Whilst I was ordering a lady came in and asked where her order was as she had been waiting outside for half an hour and was cold! She eventually got her order but when she opened it up the batter on the fish was like concrete so she took it back in for replacement.l got called back eventually for my order.I asked for the nuggets and fish in separate trays also the chips.I was told they had no cartons for the peas OR the curry sauce so the peas and curry sauce were put with the chips. When I got back to the car across the road and unwrapped the food to eat I had no fish! I went back across the road to George’s Plaice to ask where my fish was. They looked at me stupid ,put a fish in a tray and handed it to me. I did say to the staff I have been coming here for fish n chips for many years but never again. The meal was a complete and utter waste of money.Iam pretty certain the lady who waited half hour whoever she is would agree. Very disappointing experience to say the least ,don’t even...

Stopped in here on Friday evening to pick up a quick dinner. I'm not sure if I was more disgusted with the food we were given or the service we received. The dark haired chap with a liverpool accent behind the counter couldn't have been any ruder if he tried, not even a welcoming smile or hello at the least. He may have had a bad day, but when youre customer facing its not difficult to be polite.Asked about costs of food because the menu wasn't clear (special on the board was not the price we were charged). Told to stand outside and wait to be called after we had paid for our food (covids over now, and there was only 1 other person in there at the same time as us). £8.50 for a large chips that was enough to feed 1 toddler and 1 x sausage, but our portion was smaller than my sisters regular portion. Chips tasted awful! Limited items on the menu and completely overpriced (£1.65 for a bread roll!!) Food came in polystyrene containers (not very sustainable) and not wrapped in any paper so it was cold by the time we got back to our hotel. Honestly, I'd encourage people to visit somewhere else where the employers actually care about the importance of service, reputation, the environment and general politeness, not to mention adequate food taste and standards. Wish I had checked reviews first, how this place is still trading I'll never know. Spend your money elsewhere and avid this place...
