Read moreWas always a great place to visit for many years..40yrs Sad to say the geese have been left to over run the whole park. It isn't a wildlife centre, it is a public park for people to relax, visit, play. The geese have Been left to over run the place. The grass lawns for picnic and children's play are now stripped to bare dirt because of lack of food for the geese, they eat it. Everywhere is covered I duck muck, as my grandson calls it. You can't walk anywhere without being covered in it. Even the few ducks that have been there for decades have started to disappear, because of the competition for food with the geese. They are nasty, aggressive and bad tempered. Frustration on their part no doubt! Please relocate them to somewhere larger and wild, where it will be better for them to find sufficient food. One of them bit my grandson quite badly recently and something must be done. It is cruel to leave them there and unfair to the buxton tax payer!!! Come on council....pull your finger out and do...
Read moreThe pavilion gardens are well maintained, and there was a great atmosphere created by the festival activities this week. There's a little river running through the park, which families enjoyed cooling down in the summer heat.
However, I feel let down after driving 90 mins to visit as it was as generic as any other well maintained green space.
There is a Victorian greenhouse, inside you’ll find tropical towering plants under a white framed glass dome, and deep in the small curves of the path through to the other side lives a little pond.
There is a cafe onsite with plenty of outdoor seating with the occasional live music to enjoy.
There is parking on site × COINS ONLY × But also many other nearby parking spaces at similar prices surrounding the park. In Buxton it seems COINS are ONLY acceptable. Not exactly in keeping with the times and the covid-19 era.
Interesting garden shop at one entrance which is next to the Opera House.
× Have a look at what’s on at the Pavillion Gardens before booking...
