As Thai food lovers we were delighted to find a Thai restaurant in Buxton Centre. All started well as they allowed us to book with 5 minutes notice. 👍 Waiter was attentive and our order was taken and a very good papaya salad was delivered to the table. Sadly, this is where it went downhill. Asked for recommendations, wasn’t really given any so ordered Beef Masaman and a fried seafood dish (Talay Sam Rot). Both were highly disappointing. The Masaman was totally lacking in flavour. The beef was pre cooked and added into the sauce at the end. Not cooked in it. The potatoes were hard and the few onions in the dish couldn’t bring it up. 👎🏻 As for the Seafood, this too was not great. The batter was soggy and very little flavour in the sauce. It was just a 6 pieces of protein and a small of veg for £16 👎🏻👎🏻. The noodles took the biscuit! They were served straight from boiling water onto the plate.👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻 No seasoning, no drizzle of oil. Really poor….I’m hoping this was just on off-night for the team as we left feeling a little underwhelmed. To be fair, we finished our meals because we were hungry and don’t tend to complain in restaurants but it all fell below our (not huge) expectations. Maybe we should have chosen...
Read moreWe had this restaurant recommended to us and it's easy to see why. A huge range of choices, with some good vegan ones too. Great service, super clean restaurant and extremely quick and fresh food. The only downside is no visible ramp for disabled access (it'd be worth checking if they have one before going), the restaurant is on stepped levels and the toilets are downstairs.
We booked via phone call as their website only allows for 24 hour advance bookings.
We went for the salt and pepper tofu style starter with crispy garlic, spring onion and chili. My partner had a pad thai with chicken and I had a dry tofu curry for mains.
The food was really high quality, the tofu was crispy and chewy and the starter was fresh with a little hint of spice. The spice of my main built up over time and was extremely tasty and fresh with hints of lemongrass.
The wine list was very extensive and we went for a house white, which was reasonable. When we booked we were told that we had to be out at 7pm and we got there at 5.30pm. An hour and a half was perfect to finish a bottle and have two courses.
The tables were cleaned thoroughly for the next guests, the staff were polite and...
Read moreAbsolutely superb from start to finish. Firstly the food: tasty in every single dish leaving us wanting more, loads of gluten free options for my wife which were also tasty, good portion sizes, reasonably priced, everything very fresh and of good quality, excellent presentation, equally lovely drinks and I must mention the beef peanut curry - honestly the chunks of beef were so tender and lean they were better than almost any steak I've had! The staff were attentive, friendly, polite and despite the restaurant being very full and busy the food came very quickly and the staff weren't at all phased by the busyness but perfectly amiable and available. The atmosphere was lovely, presumably because everyone was totally happy with the food, the staff and the service. If I could give an extra star...
