First visit to this restaurant and it certainly won’t be the last. We booked a table in advance and where pleasantly surprised by how quaint and relaxing the restaurant was. We were greeted with smiles and shown to our table. We ordered a drink whilst looking at the menu and it was so nice not to be rushed. We ordered starters and I have to say the mussels were the best I ever had. Mains were served with excellent wine. The guy came with the parmigiana which was a nice touch . We came out some two hours later having had a lovely meal and great service . Many Thanks and see you soon .

Hurrah a proper Italian Restaurant, Tradition Of the flare the Italians have without one in sight. They have two floors to dine in, an excellent selection of wine & the bar is well stocked. The specials are well thought out & it is hard work selecting just one dish. It was like being transported to Italy & forgetting the snow outside. The bathroom was clean & there is a taxi rank a few steps down the road, as well as the train station. So it is available to all. Do give this place a visit

Our last night in Buxton and a lovely end to the week. St Moritz has lovely food, attentive service staff and a great ambience that offers a great dining experience. The food was well prepared and good value for money. We sat on the mezzanine balcony and were able to see the stained glass ceiling, which isn't real but architecturally taken from the design of the front windows of the building. It added a quirky touch and we had a lovely evening.

Appalling service - we were abandoned!

We booked a table and when we arrived at the restaurant we were shown to a table upstairs. We were left with menus, and nobody came to take our order, or even a drinks order. People at other tables near us, who had been there since before we arrived, were also waiting to order. We realised that when any staff could be bothered to serve anyone, we would be behind these other tables, so we were not likely to be served anytime soon. After quite a long time (I didn’t time it, but it was an excessive amount of time to wait) we hadn’t even seen any staff come upstairs. We decided that if the service was this bad, even if we did manage to order soon, the whole meal would be hard work, so we decided to leave. As we left, no staff noticed us leaving, even though we had to walk the length of both floors of the restaurant to get out. We passed four waiting staff downstairs standing around chatting. They were laughing and joking, so this was a social chat and not a work-related discussion. We wanted to say something to one of them about why we were leaving, but they were too engrossed on their conversation to notice us trying to talk to them! Maybe the food is good at this restaurant, but that is irrelevant if the staff cannot be bothered serving customers. Maybe they have read the positive reviews on here and are resting on their laurels, or maybe they only look after their regular customers. There are plenty of other restaurants in Buxton, so there is no need to...

Wondering if this place has changed hands in recent times? Been here a few times over the years when visiting Buxton and has always been fantastic, however visiting on Saturday, unfortunately, for all of us in our party of 6 the food was dire. The service is still brilliant (although appears to be all new staff). The atmosphere, perhaps may be due to the cold weather, but did not have that Saturday night 'thriving' feel there has been in the past/you usually get in Italian restaurants on a busy weekend night. The food though was just not good at all, sorry to say. Previously it has been some of the best Italian food we have had, fresh, homemade, really nice pizza, pasta. The menu seemed different tonight, and the food just tasted like the bases had been bought on the pizza, the garlic bread was like ciabatta sticks but were burnt, my tagliatelle l'd expected to be pasta tossed with Olives, Sundried tomato etc and it looks more like soggy noodle dish. My brother in law said the calamari tasted like frozen shop bought stuff, and the eggplant ravoli had the aubergine on the outside as if it had just been thrown together. Hopefully this is just a blip, perhaps the usual Chef was off work, but to me something seems to have changed, or...

I don't really know how other people have rated this highly! The staff are really imbeciles. One waitress takes drinks order and doesn't get it right. after a long time another comes to take the food order. the drinks waitress needed to be told more than once to get me a glass of tap water! didn't apologies when I had to remind her. The menu doesn't really have much of a choice. Everything on the plate was topped with fridge cold feta.- How Italian is that!! Pizza seemed safest thing to order on the menu - so I ordered it -...but the base was soggier than an Indian monsoon and had a layer of oil from the cheese. One didn't feel comfortable telling the waitress to take it away as they were so brusk. I was so desperate to leave my soggy feta filled meal. the main waitress did offer a 10% off the bill, but that was not much of a consolation!! Avoid if you can unless you want to be adventurous and take the risk you may have nice staff and a good chef on the day. And another waitress was explaining to other guests that Spaghetti Bolgonaise is an italian dish!! Terrible pseudo...
