Nice pub, but at 10oC outside with the front doors wide open it was quite cold. When smokers started puffing outside, all the smoke was coming into the pub, I asked the lad behind the bar if I could close the door in which he agree.
The short tattooed bar tender then went out for a fag and propped the doors wide open again. I didn't know at this point he worked there. I removed the door wedge and put it on the bar. The short tattooed bar tender then gave me a whole load of abuse over smokers rights and told us to go and drink somewhere else.
Given the unfriendly and abusive nature of this idiot we left promptly, this guy clearly has no respect for firstly the comfort of his customers, for the establishment or for non smokers. There is a Greene King pub around the corner called the Old Club House opposite the theatre, with a much better atmosphere, music, it's warm and above all no smoke pouring through, oh and of course no...

My wife had a NZ Sauv Blanc which was delightful. I couldn't go without trying a half pint of Track DIPA which was soooo good.
The staff were friendly and attentive. The guy who served us greeted us with a smile and was more than happy to help.
May come back here later this week if I have the...
Read moreSituated in a former bank building, this bar is simply fabulous, It features one good sized room on the ground floor with a small seated mezzanine area on the first floor level. The toilets are on the ground floor & on the date of inspection were spotless. This place has great beers, both on cask & micro keg. If you're not familiar with Red Willow brewery, they are well worth a try & im confident you wont be disappointed. They have beers to suit most tastes here. It can get very busy at times, especially in the evenings (Friday & Saturday) if you like a quiet drink & conversation I recommend visiting on a Wed or Thurs when they first open (@4pm) as it does have a habit of filling up quickly. To summerise, I highly...
