My family and I went aboard the cruise on Friday, November 26, 2021. There are two major situations that caused me to write a review. The first, a discriminatory incident between two groups and the second the hygiene of one of the waiters.
To start with the first point, my family and I sat behind a group of four white British folks. Looked to be older. Towards the end of the cruise, the table next to them accidentally dropped several folded tablecloths that were given to them so that a little girl could sit higher on the seat and reach the table and be more comfortable. (Splendid service). However, the white group next to them commented something discriminatory. The group next to them, the victims, consisted of a non-British mother, mother in law, and young daughter.
Of course, this evolved into an argument between the two parties, and the British folks were continuing to state discriminatory remarks like calling them invaders and foreigners, while the mom defended herself and her family. I left to the top deck and upon returning I saw the cruise director speaking with the British group. By the end of the cruise, multiple waiters and waitresses spoke with the family who received the discrimination to support them. The cruise handled the incident well, however, I do hope that the British group are banned from any future cruises, tours, and activities controlled by this company. If not, I will not recommend this cruise to family who are planning to visit.
Secondly, our waiter had a horrendous stench. It seemed as if he did not bathe or shower in two months. The smell was riveting and I vomited in my mouth. Extremely discomforting stench. Please address this privately with the individual so that he is made aware of how awful he smells. I’m so sorry but it was really disgusting. I could see the look in people’s faces when he passed by them. I don’t know how his coworkers could work with him comfortably.
Besides that, the cruise was phenomenal. The tour was well lectured, the food was delicious, the comfort was there, and the service was...
Read moreThis one star is for Yasmin who served us at the start. She was a star and we thank her for her prompt and polite service.
Everything else-
!!! Please avoid if you are Chinese, unless you want to be called nothing but your ethnicity on the cruise.
Everything else was suboptimal, very old boat and failed-to-impress food (at least for the price) unfriendly, borderline racist male crew member. Yasmine who showed us our table was very professional, but they changed their serving areas at a random point during our cruise. This is when this male crew member started attending the areas we were in. He ignored our table most of the time (even though he was serving and chatting with all the other table)- which was fine and I literally preferred him that way. When he finally decided to come to us, the first question he asked in return for a new pot of tea is “where are you from” and once he knew my mom and I are from China, he kept mocking us saying “Xiexie” in a weird tone and then at the end when they finished their service he literally addressed us saying “Chinese did you have our menu”. I seriously don’t know what to say and what levels of service this was supposed to be, or why on earth he thought this was necessary- we were only there for a nice afternoon tea and some family time to spend together.
I will definitely not return again, not unless I want to ruin my day on the infamous...
Read moreGreat Experience, especially on a sunny Bank Holiday, you can get discounted tickets if you travel on C2C overground and show your ticket and voucher (that you can pickup from the station) you can then get 24 hour tickets for about £10.75 that allow you to go on and off, the reality of it is that you will probably do one 'lap' and want to get off as the tour is great and interesting but once is enough (per day). Been twice now in the last 3 years and although the crew give you a historically interesting chat of the sights I did get fed up of the statements that claim ' the company dont pay us to do a talking commentary of the sights you will see but if anyone wants us to do it we will' a precursor to the 'a tip will be gratefully received at the end of the trip'
Like loved the boat (although overcrowded) Loved the commentary (although you can lose the 'hard done by' speech that I heard 3 times in one lap) Loved the river and view of landmarks
Didn't Like Didnt like the time it takes to get on / off the boat Didnt like the ' we dont get paid to be a tour guide' but we will if you want us to Didnt like the amount of time spent asking for tips and waiting at the exit with a bucket for tips. Didnt like the overcrowding
Happy to tip if we like the service but this is pressured and boring if you keep asking
recommended highly as a great way to see London...
