Skagway Excursions Company — Attraction in Alaska

I had booked a helicopter glacier tour for $299/person for my wife, myself, and my Dad in Skagway through M&M. We booked four months in advance of our cruise and got a confirmation email and everything. The morning of our Skagway arrival, we got up very early, hurried the full length of the pier to the M&M office at the end by 8:30am for our check in and payment, then were told to wait for the van to pick us up in front for our 9am tour. We waited till 8:45am and then I went back in to ask about the van and was told to keep waiting and that it'd be in soon. 9am rolls around and passes. A little bit after a rep from in M&M came outside to get us and brought us in.

He told us that he called Temsco Helicopter tours had no record of our reservation on the books. He said that this happens sometimes, which is absolutely ludicrous because there is no reason why it should happen. It is easy to do follow-up confirmations as reservations get closer to ensure that everything is fine. At least the day before. So M&M basically said that Temsco screwed up and had an opening at 12:30pm that we could take. There was no real apology, no discount, no accountability. If we had had another excursion booked for that afternoon, we would have had to miss one or the other. Fortunately, we didn't so we did the later tour, but we did have to shift around our afternoon beer tasting plans to make this happen.

I know that as long as there continues to be a heavy demand for tours like the helicopter glacier activity there really won't be much accountability, but I need convey that this could have been prevented or remedied with more consideration. As a result, I must warn caution when booking with M&M just in case. The excursion itself was...

We visited Skagway October 11, 2023. We had booked a tour with another company, but for several reasons, we were not able to make that tour (not the company's fault and they were great to work with). M&M was able to accommodate us with the City highlights and Summit tour at the end of the day. Our guide/driver, Mike, was exceptional. He was very knowledgeable and also very funny. He gave us time to take pictures and look around at key stops, and was available to answer all our questions. We had taken a tour with M&M in Juneau the day before, and were pleased with that tour.
