So long, Diho Market. Hello, Pioneer Cash & Carry!
Driving west on 183rd, our eyes spied a bunch of canopies in front of the new Pioneer Cash & Carry. Seeing the crowds and knowing the supermarket was soon to open, relocating from a smaller venue on Pioneer Blvd., we made a quick left and fought for a scarce parking spot during the busy Grand Opening.
Outside, various vendors gave out samples of Indian foodstuffs such as tea, cookies, sweets like gulab jamun and some hearty dishes. I availed myself of one or five too many gulab jamun, along with practically everything else. For a free frozen package of plain naan, customers just had to show their receipt.
Inside, a spacious layout greets all those who shop at Pioneer Cash & Carry The supermarket is undergoing a soft Grand Opening, so not all items had price tags nearby, such as the dairy section and the bags of rice. All the aisles were easy to decipher & maneuver through. I marveled at the various sizes of ghee & the bagged beans.
The produce section on the left had produce that was fresh & competitively-priced. We managed to score some ginger that was on sale.
On the right of Pioneer Cash & Carry, a bakery selling fresh roti & other grain products will service those looking for them. Unfortunately, it wasn't up & running at this time, but I'm sure it will be sooner, rather than later.
Service was good. All the cashiers were wearing colorful sari's. I'm not sure if that's just for the Grand Opening, but I enjoyed the beautiful colors on display. All purchases were bagged in complimentary Pioneer Cash & Carry reusable bags. Located directly across the Artesia post office, Pioneer Cash & Carry has parking via a private lot, with more parking in front of Kim Tar and the shopping center by the bank next door.
Here's to spacious shopping experiences! Pioneer Cash & Carry is an open, user-friendly Indian supermarket that has a lot to offer the community. From the fresh bakery to the frozen food section, every niche of Indian cuisine is serviced here. Having a Grand Opening which offered complimentary food for those fortunate enough to attend, I foresee Pioneer Cash & Carry having a successful relocation to a more expansive building with free...

Read moreI came shopping here as I typically do. I first went to the smaller store and the store is a mess. It's very disorganized and short staffed. It's ridiculous. Then I went to this store to hopefully find what I was looking for since the small store didn't have it. Unfortunately this store has always had terrible customer service and not the best employees. I ask a woman about a product, they apparently don't understand me, then they say they will be asking for help and they never come back leaving me waiting for a very long time for nothing. Not even Walmart has such terrible customer service like here. Walmart employees are even more helpful despite being short staffed too. Here at Pioneer, the employees say they'll bring out more vegetables and they don't and the women in the aisles are very rude and unhelpful. Whoever is in charge of the personel here needs to do a better job teaching and training...
