I have been wanting to do this for years. Finally came home and a class was gifted to me for Three Kings. It’s a tiny shop/store but just big enough. It’s located just inside of Springdale road. They have singles and couples classes. Don’t ask me how much it was because as I said, the class is a gift. Whatever you decide to make will depend on what will take up your class time. Hubby and I decided to do small objects so we got to do two projects each. If you decide to do the pumpkins it’ll take a little more time and if you decide to do your own drinking glass you’ll only have time for just one project.
I loved the experience and Shara was very thorough with safety and what your part in the process is. She’s also helpful with the color choices and how it might look as the end result.
The gift shop is super small but it’s all that’s really needed to display the artisans works for sale. A picture of the creator is on display and a QR code to watch how it was made. I have to say I have a newfound respect for artisans. Never will I take it for granted the things I see even when sold in stores like Ross or Target. It didn’t matter what hands in what country made it. (Unless it’s machine made)
We had the opportunity to make three small projects but the last one my husband and I did one together as a gift to our daughter who was the one who gave my husband the idea to pay for this experience. If Shara can recreate our heart topped mushroom or show future customers how to create them, I really feel this could be a great Valentines date for the person whose love language is...
Read moreThe best glass blowing experience I have ever had! I had blown glass 8yrs prior at another place in Austin and this was leaps and bounds superior to that experience. Decided to get a private lesson for 2 instead of the intro class because I wanted a little more depth and it was also a date. The one-on-one with the instructor was perfect for this. Ryan was our instructor and she was amazing! I cannot say enough good things about her teaching style. She was very engaging, friendly, and allowed us to do a lot of the hands on work so we learned, while also taking over in the times when needed to make sure the items we made came out looking professionally done. She is clearly passionate about her craft and that excitement was contagious. Ryan was very informative and taught us a lot about the process. It was equal parts art and education. I highly recommend Ghost Pepper Glass for their glass blowing classes. I'm going to go back and take their 4 week intro course series. Maybe even take the same date back again. We had a great time and left with some very cool work. Also this is a woman owned business with a female majority artist staff. Go support...
Read moreFirst, let me state that I have a collected a handful of their pieces over the years. I love their work. So I thought it'd be awesome to have them help us make our work own pieces. So for the Christmas holidays I got us a gift certificate to plan on a future class. Months later, it was a struggle to figure out how to cash in the GC and no on is there to answer your call. So after a bit of a struggle, I got it scheduled. Unfortunately, I should have read the fine details since work happened and we had to miss our scheduled time. I followed up via email and all I got was a message stating that the artists have to be paid. So my loss. So please be aware of the fact that there's no turning back if you have to miss your slotted time. We'll find another glass maker to buy pieces from and that does classes. One that isn't so difficult to communicate to reach and is a bit more compassionate about their clients. I give them five stars because we love their work but am subtracting three for a very expensive ($180) mistake that still...
