I'm reposting my review from June that the salon manager Jason tried to bully and harass me into removing the truth of my experience at their salon by posting a video that was taken without my knowledge and posted to intimidate and harass:
"During the application of acrylic nails on 5/17/2025, as a few days passed, it became clear that my natural nails were damaged, resulting in pain and small hemorrhages. Rather than taking responsibility, the staff attempted to blame this damage on potential underlying health issuesâdespite having no medical credentials. I found this both inappropriate and unprofessional, particularly as no prior nail conditions existed and the damage clearly followed the service. When I returned to have the acrylics removed due to the pain and injury, I was still charged for the removal. Again, no accountability was taken for the damage done during the initial service.
To make matters worse, the situation escalated at the front desk during payment. I attempted to pay with a credit card and was asked to show my driverâs license, which I understood was to verify the nameâsomething I willingly complied with. However, the staff then tried to take a picture of my license, which I refused for privacy and security reasons. What followed was a troubling and insulting insinuation of fraud, as the attendant falsely claimed that the names did not match, despite them being identical. This felt like an attempt to sneak a photo of my ID under false pretenses and added further insult to an already upsetting experience. In summary, I experienced:
Physical harm from improper nail application Dismissal of injury with baseless medical speculation A lack of professional accountability An inappropriate and invasive attempt to photograph personal ID A false accusation that I find both offensive and damaging to my reputation
I intend to now request, a full refund for both the original acrylic application and the removal service and possibly pursue further action by filing a complaint with the state board of cosmetology and consumer protection options."
I have since complained to the Better Business Bureau and am waiting for a response from the Maryland State Attorney General's office for what may have been the illegal use and posting of a video to harass and bully me. They only have the authority to video inside their salon for security purposes and not to use to publicly harass customers.
Plus, I'm not sure if customers know that they are being videotaped. I don't recall seeing a public notice to inform customers of their recording nor do I recall seeing the cameras visibly displayed to also aware customers. This salon has a history of bullying and harassing their customers if they leave a truthful and non-complimentary review. Look at the review history for yourself. They don't value their customers just...
Read moreMy fiancÊ and I were looking for a new nail salon for as the one we previously had gone to closed. We found Purelux online and they had great reviews so we checked it out. The first experience was great. The nail salon was clean and the two women who did our feet were delightful. Great, so we decided to book our wedding party there for pedicures and some manicures. We talked to the nail salon a month ahead of time about booking the appointments (6 pedis and a few manis). I asked if they could accommodate a large group and they ensured they could. I talked to the salon several times before the actual appointment (to ask questions such as should we arrive early, everything good to go and so on). Everything was always good to go. We show up (wedding party of 6) on a Thursday night that we booked and nothing was ready or organized. We even showed up 10 minutes early. Three of the wedding party was taken back to get pedicures and we were told the others would have to wait because they didn't have chairs available? Um okay...everyone in the wedding party was taken back but myself the bride to be. I was told to sit in a chair in the front and someone would eventually take care of me. I walked to the back cause I wanted to be apart of the group, after all it was going to be my big day and was rudely told I had to sit up front (alone). When they finally had a chair for me, I was placed in the corner away from my fiancÊ and wedding party. Wouldn't you think the bride would get better treatment? Everyone else was almost done their pedis by the time the guy even started on my feet. He rushed through my expensive pedicure and couldn't paint my toenails claiming they were too short. BS I have never had someone tell me my toenails were too short. Not to mentioned I paid 60 dollars for a pedicure that was rushed and he never even massaged my feet. It was the worst experience ever getting my feet done. I refused to get my nails done there and left. My fiancÊ also asked for a the wax pedicure that should have lasted 45 minutes if done correctly and it was maybe 15 minutes long. Such a waste of time, I left and got my nails done somewhere else. I do NOT recommend this place to anyone looking to do a bridal party or large group. They are...
Read moreWe have been here a few times since moving to the neighborhood and have really liked the services and results - we always splurge on the nicer mani/pedis and they've been great. It's a beautiful space and the staff are friendly - though even with an appointment there's usually a small wait because they are quite busy (nothing wrong with being a popular spot).
I'm hesitant to leave this review because of our previous good experiences, but I'm pretty disappointed after today. I had a 4:30pm appointment for a manicure and I arrived at that time, was welcomed and picked my nail color. They were very busy, which happens, no problem, but I wish I would have been given an estimate on wait time. Someone got me from the waiting area at around 4:50 and took me to a chair. I waited for another 10 minutes (still no one) and at that point my service should have been concluded if I started on time. I couldn't wait any longer because I had an event to get to, so I walked to the front. The nail tech saw me and said she'd be right with me - she was very sweet - but I said I'd just have to reschedule. There were three people at the front desk and I was trying to quickly say I wanted to reschedule, but they were occupied with another customer. Waiting a bit is no big deal, and if I hadn't had to be somewhere else I would have, but I unfortunately had to get going. I'm not sure if they were overbooked or had something else going on, but feeling forgotten definitely put a...
