I don't ever write reviews, as a matter of fact, this may be my first ever.
I consider myself a pretty avid game collector, so GameWare often meets my needs when it comes to finding high quality retro titles.
Well, I went in Sunday and purchased a CIB Arc the Lad Collection on PS1. Holy grail item for me. I should've persisted the clerk at the time, I believe his name was Caleb, buffered the disks for me. As unfortunately, when I got home and got around to testing the discs, disc 1 didn't work. I began to panic a bit, as this isn't something easily replaced. Not only that, but I didn't have a receipt! If anyone actually reads these reviews, I am 100% certain I did not get a receipt.
I contacted GameWare on College Dr. and luckily got a hold of Jacob. He knows I frequent the location and typically buy higher priced items, and he assured me we would get this taken care of.
He came through big time, and told me Mall of LA GameWare had it and they would replace the disc for me. Jacob and Richard at College Drive GameWare always come through for me and I really appreciate their customer service and attention to taking care of problems. This cannot be stated enough.
So I head to the Mall and was greeted by Olivia, who helped me through the whole process. She actually pulled a PS1 down from the shelves, hooked it up, and tested each disc before we left. Finally, everything worked as intended! She even replaced a few discs that she had that looked better than the ones I had from College. She was super nice and friendly and totally took care of my problem.
Thank you to GameWare staff for resolving this issue and making purchasing retro games not just a fun, but reassuring experience, as these older items can be unreliable to say the least. I will be back, and hopefully, can get Lunar 1...
Read moreThis place is incredibly clean, organized, and welcoming the moment you walk in. The shelves are stocked neatly with games, accessories, and collectibles, making it easy to find what you’re looking for without feeling cramped like in some other shops. The displays are also well-kept, and you can tell they take pride in keeping the store nice for their customers. What really made our visit stand out was Jeff, one of the staff members. Jeff is an awesome guy who went above and beyond to help us find a rare game we were searching for, and he took the time to explain which games were on sale and what was worth picking up for our console. He was patient, friendly, and genuinely seemed excited to talk about games with us, which made the whole experience even better. The store also has fair prices and a great selection of both new and retro games, plus cool merch that you don’t find everywhere. You can tell it’s run by people who love gaming and care about their customers, not just about making a sale. Overall, if you’re looking for a great game store with an inviting atmosphere and a staff that cares, this is the place to go. Huge shoutout to Jeff for making our visit awesome! We’ll...
Read moreBeen going to this local, privately owned video game store since it was a small shop in the Mall of Louisiana across from the now dead arcade that was there, so probably about 12 years ago. I won't say I absolutely never had a bad experience there, but they've always more than made up for anything "bad" that might have happened and I've purchased hundreds of games from them over the decade.
I highly recommend checking this place out at either the College Drive or Mall of LA locations. If you think the prices are high for the older stuff, well...the days of walking into a store and "finding a steal' are dead with video games guys. eBay lets everyone buy and sell equally, so most times those high prices are matching the ones on eBay. Frankly, Gamestop is dead, if you follow the news about the company...they are literally in the death throws. And why not support a local, private business that guarantees their products for 30 days with a 7 day "return no questions asked" policy on used stuff.
Heck, they even repair your CDs, DVDs and will even repair your consoles...Gamestop sure as heck won't do that...
