I moved into these apartments in February, because of all the flashy new amenities, and the fact that I needed someplace that could accommodate a shorter lease option. Man do I regret ever living here.
The leasing office is constantly changing their policies and procedures with no notice to residents. We only find out by accident or when we have a question or concern about something going on. There is a TERRIBLE roach problem, that took us having to contact the leasing office multiple times to even have pest control come out to attempt to remedy the problem. And it still didn't work.
They have come to our Apartment without proper notice multiple times, violating the lease Agreement and Florida Law. When they decided we were getting roommates, they sent "housekeeping" to come clean the empty rooms, but didn't tell us that they were coming. We found out when they entered the apartment. Additionally, when we first moved in, we were told that we'd receive the contact info of the roommates that were placed with us. That policy changed at some point, and no one told us. So we had to beg just to find out the basics of the genders of the 2 roommates that they were adding, one was Male the other female. When I filled out my roommate matching profile, I specified female only. But according to the Leasing office, because I chose to live with my specific roommate (who I've known for quite some time) and that roommate identifies as non-binary, I agreed to live in Gender-neutral housing. (Non-binary =/= Gender Neutral). Even my roommate requested Female-only roommates. But Because my roommate identifies as Non-Binary, we suddenly become Gender neutral and Males can live with us. Even though both of us Have made it clear that we are extremely uncomfortable living with a Male.
When I brought up the fact that I didn't feel safe living with a Male resident their response to me "We don't guarantee your safety".
The wi-fi is terrible. It goes out at all hours of the day and night, this shouldn't be an issue since less than 1000 people (probably significantly even less than that number) live here.
When it comes to accessing the community portal, you can't do it, unless you jump through multiple hoops. And when paying Rent online, you will get charged a $19.95 fee, ON TOP of your rent.
Additionally, I will partially blame myself for this for not reading through the document 100% properly, but I was dealt a bait-and-switch with the Rent. I did the 4 Bed - 2 Bath lease for 6 months. When I went for my tour, I was told it would be $650, and when I signed my lease, I didn't fully realize that the price was changed to $699, because there was an upcharge on those who had shorter leases. When I brought it to their attention, that they provided false advertisement the response I got was "we updated our website, and the document you signed is legally binding, so there is nothing we can do at all". When I brought up the potential of me extending my lease (because this was before the Roach problem or the management violating the lease), and my concern that if I did so, I would be scammed out of more money, they said that they would look into the possibility of my leasing being updated with the extended term, and price adjustment, but it would take some time and they would contact me with further information about it, It's been 2 months.
OH and finally, they were bribing people during their "Open House" to make positive reviews on here with raffle tickets to win gift cards.
This entire place is mismanaged, there is no transparency, I never know what the community policies are and all they seem to care about is their social media and...
Read moreMy experience at Flamingo Crossings West was one of the worst housing situations I’ve ever dealt with. When I first moved into my assigned unit (H31 – APT 105), both my mother and I became sick shortly after spending time there. After being relocated to another unit, my health improved, but when I was moved back, my symptoms returned.
From the beginning, there was a strong odor of cat urine in the room. It caused headaches, nausea, and overall discomfort. I later learned the previous resident had a cat, which explains the smell. Even after management replaced the flooring, the odor remained—especially in the bathroom.
To make matters worse, a front desk employee entered my room without permission. This was not only inappropriate but also frightening. When I tried to show them the smell, they said they couldn’t detect anything and told me there was nothing they could do. I ended up having to spend my first night at Flamingo Crossings Village in a hotel because of how unbearable the conditions were. The following day, when I went to the front desk and asked to speak with a manager, I was told the manager on duty also couldn’t do anything. It was only after sending an email that I was finally moved to a temporary unit.
Unfortunately, once I was forced to return to my original room, the smell persisted and the bathroom continued to reek of cat urine. Eventually, the situation became so bad that my program had to end early because I could not continue living under these conditions.
This was a very disappointing and frustrating experience. I would not recommend living at Flamingo Crossings West, and I strongly encourage Disney to find a different company to manage their...
Read moreThere’s no denying that flamingo looks great on the outside, but it’s the inside that needs work; one of which is the maintenance team. Several times throughout my program, I have called for maintenance and they have always come at their convenience. They usually barge into the apartment and then into your personal room to see what they need to fix. They have walked into my room when I was sleeping and woken me up. An easy fix to this would be to schedule a date and time with the residents to come do that. Also, when new roommates are moving in, they do the same thing with preparation; cleaning, painting, etc. Like I said, Flamingo could easily fix this with scheduling a date and time when residents would feel comfortable with maintenance doing this, like normal apartment complexes. Adding on, I’ve known several people who’ve had actual problems with their roommates, and Flamingo didn’t do anything about it. They’re not willing to move people to different rooms on any basis really. Security is another issue. My family came the other day and when checking them in on two separate occasions, two different security guards said conflicting things regarding guests. It’s also very strict. No guests 1 am-7 am, only two at a time, they check your license plate, room number, etc. The wifi here is unreliable. It’s also ridiculously expensive, despite the amenities we pay for. I just wish Flamingo could operate like a normal...
