Love the Atmosphere of Downtown Bend! The Santa Cruz type of Vibe, one has when in Bend really reminds me of when I was a child shopping and traveling with my Grandparents. Nice area to bring the family. There are a noticeable group of those that bring a dirty hippie feeling but they do seem to relegate themselves to a small corner of the downtown area and spew their causes, any hyped up event the can tie to social issues. Just be careful using the Parking garage. The garage does not seem to be regularly patrolled. I work downtown, and regularly take the stairs. In the AM I often encounter homeless people sleeping in the stairwells which is very uncomfortable. The stair wells smell of urine. Great downtown area to walk, window shop, and buy cool and unique things. Plus a lot of great eateries offering something for everyone.
