Pizza Mondo is THE PLACE when we are over staying in Sunriver. Last time we were there twice. The pizza is very good. I ordered their lunch special which was a slice, salad and soft drink. We drove to the nearby park along Mirror Pond, found a park bench and Lark and I sat and had a wonderful lunch in the Park.
Several years ago, I once had a difficult order which did not turn out well. I don't even recall what it was, but the young lady gave me a card for a free pizza, with 10 stars stamped on it. She was so apologetic and I was just having a good time with my wife enjoying their small restaurant and watching the people eat. It's been at least two years, we've been back since a number of times, but that card has remained in my wallet as a reminder of a wonderful memory. And their kindness that came with it.
And the pizza flavors given are not my particular favorites, but each bite is worth telling you about. Love the crust, love the sauce, love the people there helping and eating. A slice of heaven. Their menu is a treat to read also, up there...
Read moreLots of great reviews on this place and it's definitely a good option. Unfortunately it's not a great option. 😟 To me pizza is ALL about the crust, so if that is not excellent, you're not going have an amazing pie.
The crust here was good, not great. There was little to no edge on the pie and it was more like focaccia bread than what I like which is a crispy on the outside, chewey on the inside with a strong tangy sourdough flavor. That's my preference, so perhaps your's is different and this works for you. I want a rustic crust with some quality toppings and the crust just did not do it for me.
I was driving through Bend in a First Friday, so it was a bit hectic, probably way more than usual. The space was small, but nicely done. The staff was hard working and helpful, but the wait was more than I would have liked 30+ minutes total.
Overall it was good, just not great. Next time I'm coming through Bend I'll be looking for something that better...

I have been a regular customer of Pizza Mondo for several years.
I purchased a calzone this evening for take out. Unfortunately, I did not open the box to look at the product before leaving the restaurant. Upon arrival home, I discovered that the calzone had been so grossly overcooked that the crust was almost entirely black (both top and bottom).
There is simply no excuse for a restaurant to allow such a bad product to leave the kitchen, much less the premises as a carry out meal. It is clear to me that the kitchen staff on duty tonight (9/8/22) could care less about the quality of the food that they are putting out. It is also abundantly clear to me that there is little quality assurance oversight being employed by the restaurant management. No competent or concerned manager would have allowed this awful product to leave the kitchen.
Pizza Mondo has lost a...
