Have been spending a few days at a time in Bend for work and missing my local comic shop. Had the chance to pop into Pegasus Books to check it out and loved it. Very cool space, exactly the kind of shop I love...little nooks and crannies filled with treasures and surprises. Good solid display of new comics and some great back issues, although not a TON of old classics, mostly within the past 5 years. They have an interesting approach to back issues - mostly packages of 3 - 5 issues together in a run, wrapped up for a single price. For example, I got all four issues of X-men vs Fantastic Four for $18 (just about the value of all four individually) and...wait for it...issues 1, 2 and 3 of Super-villain Team-up which were in amazing condition for really really cheap! They also have a ton of sci-fi and fantasy books, collectables, t-shirts, etc. etc. Great shop, I'll for sure be back while I spend time in Bend!...
Read moreKind of late in the review, guess this is from about 3 or 4 months back. I really want to like this place but it can be tough. I occasionally buy comics or graphic novels. I had a few books to sell or trade and with out asking titles the guy was like " we don't buy used books" huh no wonder their used selection is so crummy! I had various graphic novels, novels by beat authors, and other cult figures, and some top notch art books. In fact the employee stated in reference to bookstores in bend " no one pays cash for books." I Walked down the street to Dudleys and sold them to the owner there, and yes for cash! I am not an idiot and know what not to bring to a store to try and get money for, if you are looking for used books these guys don't have very much, nice selection of comics , most the graphic novels can be found online for half the price. Still nothing like a brick and mortar store even if it's...
Read moreI have always loved this store, but unfortunetly we had a very bad expereince while shopping there on December 23rd. My son had arrived at the store before me, and had picked out a small plastic figurine to purchase which was $50. When I arrived I went to the cashier and she took the plastic figurine out of the bag and showed it to me, I told my son we are not going to spend $50 on the small toy. The woman then put the toy back and we turned around and left, halfway down the block my son said, "She didn't give me my money back." I hadn't reaized he had already paid for the toy. She had plenty of time to give us his money back while we were at the register, when I told her we weren't going to buy the the toy. It was clear she was trying to keep the money and take advantage of an 11 year old kid. We went back to the store where my son had to ask her for his money. This is so scary and...
