Went here for a trail that starts at the Aspen Glen picnic area and ends at a point called Grand View Point. The whole trail was almost 6.5 miles, 3.25 miles one way to the Grand View Point. There are a few spots during the hike that have a really good view of the Big Bear Lake and mountains. Trail rating is medium. Not too steep and not too difficult. Do carry enough water along as there is no water available on the whole trail. Come prepared for the snow and low temperatures during winter. It's slippery on the snow in winters and a good grip sports shoes are recommended. Parking is sufficient at the picnic area and the whole picnic area and trail looked clean and well maintained. The trail is also sufficiently marked and it's easy to follow without getting lost. Pets are allowed at the picnic area as well as on the...

In the winter this is a great inexpensive area to take younger kids sledding. Bring your own gear, there are no rentals. However, parking is very very tight and you can get stuck in the snow if you dont park correctly. First, go to the nearest gas station and get a parking pass for $5, then find a safe place to park. I advise you to get there early since parking space is very minimal. When we went, we were allowed to park across the street at the Oak Knolls lodge for $20. Overall, the sledding was so much fun and just right for the kids and whole family. It wasn't packed, we didnt have to wait in lines, it was a low cost and had...

This beautiful, tree-shade picnic area is located off Mill Creek Road. The parking lot is not that large, so we recommend getting there early if you want to find a parking space during the busy months. There are plenty of picnic tables under a pine tree covered grove and there is one standard, two-stall restroom, which could be taken care much better than they are. We recommend you bring your own toiletry items and there is no running water in the restrooms. The area is only open from 0800 to sundown daily. Finally, the trailhead for Pine Knot Trail 1E01...

We came to big bear to bring our son to see and play with the snow, we went some places that we look on google but they charge to much 45 per person no way , so we look and find this picnic area for free just 5 dollars the parking permit, honestly we had much fun but some people do not realized that slide in ice is dangerous we withness some girl falling and hitting realli hard in a tree and hurt her ankle, so becarefull.
