Visiting Big Bear has been quite some time. My boyfriend and I wanted to get away for the day get some fresh air check out the camping areas. This place is ok right off the main road so lots of noise from traffic passing by as we eat outside. The place is ok cool outdoor seating with shade except for the noise and dirt flying in the air as you eat. The people at this place seemed nice but not very hospitable. My boyfriend and I felt a bit of discrimination, yet not sure if that's even what it was we experienced. We noticed we were not greeted as other customers were, just a blank stare and a dry hello. we were handed a menu to figure out what was good for ourselves where at other places customer dinning in would be offered a menu and explained about specials or something great about the drinks or food. The waiter lacked on attentiveness to see how our meal was or if we needed anything else, but he was very attentive to the other customers offering more sauce or anything else they may need, checked up on other customers frequently but would slightly glance at my boyfriend and I as he passed by us. I had to keep asking for more sauce and when we noticed our chicken wings looked raw... Some blood in the meat, the young waiter said that's how chicken looks cause it's bone marrow and seemed a bit put off that we wanted them cooked a bit more. Yet the customer sitting behind us complained about the sauce being too spicy! and the young man quickly offered to take them back and change them out for less spicy sauce on the food. The older man who brought out our sampler of beer never explained to my boyfriend the choices we could pick from, just handed a piece of paper to pick from when we don't even know the flavor of their beer. Yet this old man went out of his way to the same customers behind us explaining to the lady which end to start at with her samples and the taste of each beer. I really hate to say it was discrimination but we are both Mexican, my boyfriend of darker skin and we definitely noticed a difference in the quality of customer service towards us compared to the other customers who appeared to be Caucasian. I would never go back...
Read moreRude waitress ruined what would have been a great experience! The atmosphere was great, beer was good, and live entertainment set the perfect mood until our waitress arrived. Music was pretty loud where we were sitting so my husband didn't quite understand her when she asked for a name to put on the tab. He began asking about the beers and was rudely interrupted when she yelled, "I SAID, WHAT NAME WOULD YOU LIKE TO PUT ON THE TAB?!" in a tone that communicated frustration. That immediately changed the whole vibe. We placed our order and wrote it off. Then when she started to take the order of the couple with us, they informed her they would be on separate tab and she made a point to to say, "OK, I'll start all over then." Again with a frustrated tone while shaking her head. Instead of throwing a little fit she SHOULD have asked us if we were going to be on the same check from the beginning. So our friends place their order, which included food. When they asked if there was anything fried available she grabbed the menu at the edge of the table and placed it down in front of them, again with attitude like, here READ. Just completely unfriendly and short tempered. As a result they cancelled their food order. We finished the one round we ordered and left, leaving a tip that expressed our dissatisfaction. We were prepared to hang out and spend some money until our HORRIBLE interaction with the rude waitress who may need to consider a different career path. She cost the business from profiting due to...
Read moreFYI if you pay by credit card... BEWARE!!! For the first time in my life I didn't leave a tip... that is how bad the beer and food and service was... but my 19.39 bill came out as $24.39 they gave themselves a $5 tip. I have had to dispute that!!!
We went the day before Labor Day. They were out of Chili, Sour Cream, Turkey and Celery... and the beer was warm. We ordered a sampler set to start since it was advertised all over the place... and thought ok lets do it! I watched a growler being filled and it was nothing but foam and I was afraid... and I was right... the beer was WARM!!! It was hot out so most people probably couldn't tell... but beer only foams like that when it is warm...
WORST SERVICE EVER!!! We would have ordered more... but just the sampler set took 20 mins to get (probably because each pour foamed) and the appetizer another 20 mins.
Granted I think the bartender thought we were with a larger group of drunk people but it was just the 2 of us... and while waiting 10 mins for the check... another group with a family had to wait for someone to clear off a table that took the poor guy 4 trips to clear because he didn't bring anything to put the dishes in and had to go back for a rag (that was filthy) to wipe...
