Hello world. This is my first time at Big Bear Lake, Ca. I came down to celebrate my sons 11th birthday which was amazing. We arrived on 6/24/20. Made plans for each day besides Saturday. We where suppose to go horseback riding but was full , so I decided to take my family to “Pine Knot Trail” for a family hike. We had breakfast and burned time before we heat out to hike. On 6/26/20 approx 6:36pm we arrived at the trail. During our hike me and my son came across a Horrible odor with flies everywhere. I didn’t think anything of it but probably a dead animal or something. Few more miles up the second or third trail hiking sign. Approx 8:10pm you. won’t believe what we found. We came across the biggest foot print I’ve ever witnessed in my life in person with my own eyes. I’m a father of 2 beautiful kids and 1 on the way. I just wanted to enjoy our family hike. These prints somewhat made me excited cause I’ve watched People on YouTube hiking finding giant footprints and trees in the letter X. and exc.. And here I am, me and my 11 yro son. Starring right into the print of a Bigfoot. I didn’t say anything to frighten my kids but I did mention “The Bigfoot is alive and here”. I recorded a video of this but didn’t get to see a Bigfoot visually. I haven’t told a soul beside my kids who seen it and you reading this. I don’t k ow who to tell it talk to about this. I really believe the media and public needs to know this so everyone or tourists can be aware of what lives in these woods. Overall I know I will be criticized and people will think I’m nuts but, I’m at peace with this and I believe it should be left alone. I loved every minute of this hike and my family and I will live on to share these moments. Ps. Dear people enjoy the hike be well aware and enjoy the true quality moment. I still can’t take this in but I’m lucky to say I found a Bigfoot foot trail. It’s currently 06/27/20. Just made it back to Henderson,NV. Love you all be safe and enjoy. “Pine Knot Trail” Big Bear Lake,Ca. Signing off till next time. I have the proof in my phone. I recorded this. And I will keep this...
Read moreWe parked here about one week into the government shutdown, hoping to use the snowy hills for a little sledding (well, saucering). The hills were nice and snowy, and the trees and snow made nice contrasts. On the other hand, it was crowded and there was a lot of discarded trash: everything from broken snow-sliding plastic sleds, water bottles, paper food wrappers, and anything else. The trash bins were overflowing; the government shutdown meant the National Forest employees weren't emptying them. The bathrooms were somewhat dirty, as well.
We hiked a little out of the valley, and (as usual) a small amount of walking took us out of the crowded area into an almost deserted, lovely forested area. We enjoyed some short hills without all the debris, and had a fine time in pristine snow.
I'd be happy to visit again once the National Forest employees are actually being paid and come...
Read moreThis is a very scenic, moderate trail that truly feels like you're inside the forest. Pineknot trail meets & intersects with a few others like Cabin 89 and so on. Every once in a while there are signs telling you which trail you are at. In other areas there are logs laid down with blue markings as well to lead you back.
I started at the Aspen Glen picnic area (that's where Google Maps took me). We parked alongside the street. If you park inside the parking lot-- you need to buy a pass. There's lots of beautiful views & squirrels. Very big squirrels. There's a lot of trees so lots of shade during midday. The trail also feels a lot more leveled and so when you're going up or down it doesn't feel necessarily steep. There are bathrooms & tables at the...
