We had an amazing time at Troy Towers. My wife and I was here for 1 year while I was doing rotations for school, and we really loved our apartment.
Apartment: Our Junior 1 bedroom 1 bathroom was clean when we got there, the temperature was always perfect, although air conditioning and extra heating is also available. They recently installed new elevators in building B which are super convenient, and we felt really safe at all times with the security. There is a very cute garden in between building A and B and if you live on a higher floor, you get great views of the city or the park. The laundry room is on the basement, and if you avoid peak hours (sat/sun noon) then there is no problem with finding available washers and dryers, which work great. They recently have verizon fios available which is super fast if you depend on wifi like me.
People: The tenants are very friendly and the building managers Frank and Anna are awesome and always ready to help us if we needed anything. The security guards are generally very friendly and people stop by to chat with them all the time. The super was prompt if we needed anything fixed, and the whole time the only issue we had was with the faucet, which was changed for us promptly.
Parties: Yes, they even have parties here! Twice a year during halloween and once in the summer, they arrange get togethers for the tenants with music, food and drinks. It’s a really nice way to get to know the other tenants and the building staff.
Parking: Parking is very convenient to find either during the day or night, there is always a space available. Each apartment gets 1 space outdoors, which costs an extra $25/month. And there are options to get indoor parking. There is guest parking available until 10pm, and you can pay extra to have your guest leave their car overnight.
Convenience: Bloomfield is a pretty quiet and convenient town. The montclair-boonton line goes directly into the city within ~35 minutes and is perfect during peak hours. It’s a bit harder to find trains during late at night. There are buses that run along bloomfield avenue and it’s very easy to get around. There are lots of supermarkets around, and if you drive for 8 minutes you can reach super fresh, which has really great produce and prices. All the major retail stores are also pretty close: Trader Joes, BJ’s, Costco, Staples, etc.
Overall: I loved staying here, and I definitely would have stayed longer if I didn’t have to go back to new york to finish school. Couldn’t...
Read moreLived there since 2013, before new construction in the area began, would have recommend the pace. It was an old building but rent was inexpensive and property managers were responsive to the very few requests that were maid, close to Manhattan trains. Then 3rd property manager came, Frank something, with main offices in parsippany NJ. Why Antagonize tenants if you can't respond to simple maintenance requests ?
Failed to return security deposit or provide reason why with in due time. Broken every landlord tenant law I am aware of, including relation for complaining about poor job performance. Failed to maintain, ignoring maintenance requests or responding in antagonizing and threatening manner. Filed false police reports in an attempt to maliciously prosecute, and harass, utilizing resources of local police department, courts, troy towers attorneys and his position of power. He accused of crimes 2 times and the 3rd time never made it to court. Was calling police on me and sending antagonizing emails strategically to disturb observance of religious holidays. I had to get my own heating and cooling units because those that came with apartment were never operational, moldy outside, filthy inside, leaking water that damaged the floors. I think he spent most of his days working out in a gym that he build for himself and writing himself positive online reviews. Nauseating smell in hallways is also worth mentioning. It took him over 2 month to fix a sealing flood in my shower, that paint job needed to be redone few month later, paint was getting moldy. The rest of the apartment, paint chipping off when you clean it with a wet sponge. After smoking ban, people started to smoke indoors instead of their balconies so the smell of pot and cigarettes would wake you up.
Please have your parssippany businessman remit payment for double the security deposit with applicable interest, for failure to conduct business...
Read moreAs a Rutgers resident I lived at Troy Towers for almost 3 years now and I am really really satisfied and would recommend it to everyone.
Pros: Apartments are well maintained, clean, with hardwood floors and spacious. Heat/water/electricity is included. AC is central and it is great. It is never too cold in the winter and never too warm in the summer! Unlimited hot water! Perfect location for Rutgers residents. Train to New York stops in front of the building and you are there in 35-40 min. My husband works on 5th Av and takes the train to work and back every day. Over the past 2 years neighborhood blossomed. There is a large supermarket 300 feet from the main entrance and there are new bars and restaurants around to choose from. There is also a large park surrounding the building that you can walk in. Feels safe to walk around. UPS and Post office 600 feet away. GO28 bus stops in front of the building and takes you to Newark airport in 30min. Management is great! Pay attention that the "people" who leave nasty comments about the management all have weird fake names (Ana Frank, really?) and are targeting the manager, Frank. I came in contact with the management only a few times (to renew contract, ask for information, etc.) and they have always been really nice. I see constant efforts on their part to improve the building. Elevators are being renovated, the greenery on the property is always in pristine condition and they decorate for all the holidays and throw parties. The one time I needed something fixed was when my fridge suddenly died on me a week before Christmas, in the evening around 6 pm. The guy from maintenance brought a brand new fridge the same night !!!
Cons: They only con I can think about is that some people in the building smoke pot and you can smell it sometimes in the hallways, which I have noticed in almost every apartment building in the City or NJ that I have...
