I didn’t want to review this because, selfishly, I wanted to keep it a secret of sorts and all to myself BUT I have to review if only to commend the exceptional service, atmosphere, and drinks I had here yesterday. First, it’s a gorgeous spot. Antique feel, quiet, dark (hence the name). Something very comforting about being there. You won’t find influencers in here doing Tik Toks, it’s more for a reserved, older crowd. Second, the service. Our server was a wonderful woman whose knowledge of the specials was beyond amazing. She was really attentive, replenishing our complimentary chips and almonds regularly. Third, THE DRINK SELECTION. Pages upon pages of cocktails. Being a huge Scotch fan, the whiskey selection is EXTREME and numerous. Wow. But beyond that, all sorts of speciality cocktails that were so delicious. I ordered the classic champagne cocktail and loved it. If you’re looking for a quiet, classic, comforting, and sophisticated bar, look no further.

Five. Stars. Not more, no less. As a local guide I think it is my duty to try out as many spots as possible and then write google maps reviews about them which are fairly long. Let me start with the ambience. the place is a little dim, sum. It’s cozy though! Lots of big tables for bigger groups but also opportunities to bring a date and enjoy them cocktails. 4.5/5. The drinks are really exquisit. No matter what you want, a classic or not, it’s way more than covering up the taste of ethanol with sugar or acids but it’s a symphonic orchestra that erupts in your mouth and greets your tastebuds with delicacy. The personell is extremely knowledgeable. If you want to listen, you can get a sympathetic history about the cocktails and flips and that is just not something I’ve experienced before (again, I am very experienced). That’s 6/5. That makes a total of 5 stars. Definitely a MUST visit when you’re anywhere on the east coast.

Located within the Boston Harbor Hotel, The Rowes Wharf Bar is a classy place to have a drink in the seaport area of Boston. I have visited this establishment for an after dinner drink on one occasion and oysters, which were fantastic, on another occasion. The bar menu here is great.

Got the Bruichladdich scotch and oyster pairing, almost 70$ after tax and tip. The server came and poured the scotch onto the shucked oysters. However, most of the oysters weren't level, so half of the scotch streamed right into the ice. She even made a comment about the pour not being very professional but she didn't do anything about it. For such a reputable establishment and unique menu option you'd think they'd figure out how to properly present it. Disappointing. Hard to enjoy the experience when I just watched the server pour half of it away. Wish I could have done it myself as I would have been a lot more careful, and if I spilled it I'd only have...
