Positives to start: Check-in was a breeze, we were able to check in super early as we had gotten into town earlier than expected. The hostess that checked us in was amazing, so friendly and helpful. The hotel itself was really beautiful and the observation deck was neat. Amenities seemed to be plentiful although we were only there for one night so didn’t get to use them much.
Not so positives: the hotel had weird energy and vibes to me - definitely felt like the possibility there was some historical trauma still impacting the energy. The hotel room/suite was two stories which was ok for us but it was totally unexpected and if we had any mobility issues, it would have been impossible. No bathrobes were provided to start, but they were brought up right away when we asked for them. The valet was not readily available in the morning (around 9am) for us to store our bags and the host to check out wasn’t nearly as excellent as the previous night. It’s also worth noting that the rooms (not the timeshare part) are only on the lower floors so don’t expect amazing views.

On the day I was supposed to check out, I found out that we unexpectedly had to euthanize our dog back home and because I wouldn’t be there to be with our family, the front desk staff accommodated me for a later checkout. This way, I would be able to say goodbye to our dog via FaceTime in the comfort of my room instead of the bustling and noisy airport.
Not only did they accommodate me with this request, they put a very thoughtful candy basket, note and “rainbow bridge” sentiment keepsake card together for me and sent it to my room.
The property was exceptional but the kindness of their team was...
Read moreEven in a city loaded with extraordinary and historic hotels, I think it would be tough to do better than the Marriott Custom House. Living in the Boston area area my entire life I've had this weird fascination with this old building. I even have a framed print of the Hindenburg zeppelin flying over the Boston Custom House in 1937. Not being guest, we were hesitant to walk in the lobby but the hotel staff were so welcoming, encouraging us to check out the stunning lobby and rotunda. Sean in particular was a very thoughtful guide and knowledgeable ambassador; answering a ton of questions I had. We will definitely spend a weekend here this summer. Shame on us for not...
