I went about a year ago, and just realized that my review wasn't posted, just the rating. This is an incredibly disappointing rendition of the old Museum of Bad Art that used to be in Davis Square. It has lost absolutely all of its charm, and no longer has any of the sculpture art pieces that were displayed in the old one. I was excited to see stuff like the "Flesh Phone." I understand that they have always displayed the art for sale, but its sad that they have not kept up. On top of that, there is just not a lot of pieces to see. I especially want to point out that the staircase heading upstairs is packed with pieces on the wall. Not only is it counter intuitive to place them there (where there's bound to be a lot of foot traffic), that renders part of this museum innacessble to wheelchair users. You cannot claim accessibility and then do that, no matter how much art you place elsewhere. I am not a wheelchair user but it is so frustrating to see that small things like that are consistently overlooked. If this museum had literally anything to offer anymore, a portion of people would not be able to see it in its entirety. This would be less of an issue if that staircase wasn't at least 20% of the art that is available for viewing in the "Museum." Just to be clear, this is a bar. Not a museum anymore. Can people who aren't old enough to/have the common sense to not drink have anything anymore? Thank god we went midday on a Wednesday. I'd rather not be in a crowded space of drunk people when trying to view a badly painted dog. I sincerely hope this museum gets moved again, and into an establishment that...

I saw a movie that I absolutely loved at the Somerville Theatre-I saw "Love and Mercy"- a tribute to musical genius Brian Wilson. As I waited for the movie to begin, I sat downstairs in the Museum of Bad Art. Boy- was that a relief, AFTER THE VERY STRESSFUL DAY I HAD at a nursing home. Long story short, prior to finding the theatre, I'd like to say with full authority that both Love and Mercy were in very short supply. Yet, the purpose of my missive is to review The Museum- not to offer my personal biography. So, it's back to the current exhibit. The theme is a religious one. A particular piece grabbed my attention. Specifically, it's titled "Altar Ego". I found both the painting and the painting's description very interesting. In fact, I sat directly across from it as I waited for the movie to start. Now there was a coincidence-and-then-some- especially coming "on the heels" of the horrid day I had at a local Catholic nursing home. Kudos to both the curator and fans of "bad...
Read moreMost enjoyable gallery - the art is well chosen, and the definition of „bad“ transparent. The real and very entertaining quality of this „museum“ is to be found in the accompanying exhibit labels which is a separate genre of art in itself. One could argue that the whole bad art thing is a trick to lure customers into the brewery-bar, but it’s a trick well played and also very transparent. I tried the food, French fries, salad and „Sammies“ (kind of burger) all were great. The lemonade was extremely sweet, but I could not try the local brew as it was too early in the day for my taste, but the New England IPA (two different ones!), the sour, the session IPA and the stout made a great menu I wish I could have tried. You can even have a can (very large one, though) filled with your tap of choice. All in all worth a visit and a great addition to any Boston itinerary if you don’t expect a...
