Overall good experience. Good food, good beer selection.
The staff gave us a hard time (both on the phone days in advance and in-person) for having booked two tables to accommodate our large group of 20. We understood that they had other reservations to consider but felt like our experience was dampened by how much emphasis was placed on getting us to leave on time instead of trying to accommodate our group, given that there were many open tables.
We chose this brewery over other options based on our ability to book tables online for our group size and then felt like we were asked to apologize for bringing a lot of business đ.
Individual staff members were nice, but collective bedside manner was a little off.
Edit: In response, yes, we were âlate.â Because of weather we changed a 1pm outside reservation to be indoors a few days in advance using the website, reserving two indoor tables at 12. When I called immediately after to confirm the change (reservations cannot be made over the phone), I was lectured about how âgroups of 20 should really be doing private eventsâ and that our group would not be accommodated at the same time, but under separate 11am and 12pm reservations. Our group arrived at 12 and were among the first people there.
Again, it wasnât the policy that was frustrating but the way we were lectured and reminded repeatedly to leave once we were there. No effort was on the phone to accommodate our group while we were trying to follow...
Read moreWe had our wedding celebration at Dorchester Brewing in September and couldn't be happier with how it went.
Space: The upstairs hopservatory, which we booked for the event, was beautiful and works so well as an event space. There was room for dining, dancing, guests could go outdoors, there is a private bathroom, and the space itself is really lovely. The kids in attendance were excited about the game room downstairs and spent a ton of time between the upstairs, downstairs, and out on the roof deck. The brewery provides access to the sound system and provides a mic, so we were all set for speeches and music.
Food and Drink: Our guests loved M&M BBQ, and I am still getting comments about how good the food was. The catering coordinator for M&M, Candace, is excellent and was helpful, responsive, personable, and made sure everything went smoothly for us.
Bar and Service: We couldn't have been happier with our bartenders, Brandon and Joy, who were friendly and super attentive. Joy was also the event coordinator and went above and beyond setting up 240(!!) mini cupcakes for us when our cupcakes were delivered at the wrong time.
Overall: We were so thrilled with our event and would recommend Dorchester Brewing to anyone considering having their wedding there. Our happened to be a more low-key casual wedding, but I think the space would accommodate a fancier event as well. We would book again here in...

Jumped on a Hub bike (best way to get around Boston in a nice day) to try this well reviewed brewery. Trying local beer has been a tradition for our trips all across the US. Upon arrival I stepped into the bathroom and my early-40's wife went to place an order. Place was empty and the bartender came straight to take her order. Before being able to order, bartender asked for ID. Initially humorously flattered, my wife provided her Canadian Drivers Licence. 'Sorry, we can take out of state ID. State drinking laws. I might consider if you had a passport' She stared at him thinking he was joking. Nope, completely serious. 'Any place that has served you on your trip has done it illegally. We can't serve you here. In fact, only Massachusetts IDs or US passports are valid. Nothing else.' Walks away
My wife leaves bar and waves me over as I exit the washroom, describes the situation. I want to argue but being polite Canadians decide to take business elsewhere without a fuss and pedalled to a more inviting establishment.
Had ID checked a few spots on our long weekend trip. Never an issue. Crazy. I think they must be misinterpreting the laws. If you are from Out of...
