🇺🇸 Boston | SouthBay Steakhouse worth a try

Been to different locations of this establishment; almost always had a great experience. Disappointed to say this is not somewhere I'd look forward to returning any time soon. Walked in one weeknight around 6/6:30pm. There were people but not too packed. Our request to sit a bit further away from others was adequately fulfilled. The waitress came to introduce herself, and things went downhill from there. My dining partner asked about a dish she actually got from the same place a few months ago, and I remember seeing similarly on the menu way back when. But instead of saying "I'm not sure, but maybe we no longer offer it", the waitress left us with a drab "Never heard of it" comment as if to put an end to our inquiry. Ok so maybe you are new? And possibly inexperienced in customer service? Food and drinks were ordered. Waitress returned a bit later and ASKED if we needed anything, while our water glasses were near empty. So we told her, and she brought more water. Management really needs to work on training their staff. Appetizer - Asian calamari ~$15 - was prepared nicely, though the only "Asian" thing about it is the Thai sweet and sour dipping sauce. Not bad for a dish, just slightly gimmicky. My main was the $30 steak with chimichurri. I've had it once or twice prior to the pandemic (at another location), and back then it was wayyyy good, my mouth still waters thinking about it. Another friend had warned me against it recently, saying it wasn't the same anymore, especially the sauce wasn't chimichurri at all. I believed her, but I really needed to see for myself, so I ordered it anyway. Friend was right, this plate was nothing like what I had. Whatever meager amount of sauce there was, definitely did not resemble anything chimichurri. Zero herb taste, zero yum. The steak, while cooked to my desired doneness, used to be a full strip of tips or hanger, now I get a handful of sliced beef. I used to have to pack about at least half the fries left, this time I finished the entire thing (including the fries, which was quite salty) while feeling like I had room for dessert -- except I no longer wanted to order more from here. Here's the kicker: my dining partner's House burger -- menu says comes with the usual fixings like lettuce, tomato, what not. Waitress brought her burger as if it came out of McDonald's assembly line (ie. flat and insubstantial), then asked (or did my friend have to flag her down to ask? ) if she wanted the fixings. Friend wondered whether those should be included; waitress said no but could bring them if she wanted. Um, ... huh?? We had to consult the online menu mid-meal to make sure we weren't seeing things -- they WERE included. The whole exchange is so weird. Is the restaurant instructing their staff to handle things this way to avoid waste and/or unneeded expenses? That's fine too, you know, I'm all for preventing waste. But shouldn't this be asked while the order was placed, not something to "argue over" post-delivery? Imagine this was a takeout order, we'd paid $18 for bun and patty without knowing what we did wrong. In all, quite disappointed for the meal and dining experience. A total meh, 2.5-star kind of deal, and definitely have had better, even within the 110 Grill group.

I called at 5pm for a 6pm pickup thinking they may be busy and I wanted to make sure the food would be ready by the time I arrived because I didn't have time to wait for it. The girl who answered paused when I mentioned it for 6pm and I said I was going to get the butternut squash ravioli (since it was highlighted on the 110 Grill IG). She said they weren't busy and to call back closer to the time I needed the food. When I was 15 minutes away I called again. I asked to order the butternut squash ravioli. She tells me they sold out. Now I am disappointed because if they weren't busy and if I asked for it 45 minutes ago, why couldn't the order just be placed. I called back a 3rd time because I needed to change my order, changed it to gnocchi bolognese ($24.50). I picked it up and asked the guy at the host stand about it being sold it. He proceeded to tell me they don't have it, then said they weren't given the items to make it. I take my food and leave because I was in a rush. About 1.5 hours later I was looking at the receipt and realized I was charged an extra $3 so I call the restaurant. Probably the girl who answered the first 2 times picked up. I asked "are the prices online accurate" and she replied "yeaaaa", like why ask a stupid question. I told her what I ordered and the price online ($24.50) but the total when I paid, before tip was $27.45. I asked why I was charged $3 extra and she was like maybe tax and I said "$3 in taxes, that doesn't seem right". She responded, "you don't need to speak to me like a child". I said maybe 2 sentences during our conversation so far and literally asked her a question in a normal tone. She put someone else on the phone and he told me there was around a $1.50 packing fee and then taxes which is why it was $3 more. If I was in person, she would have gotten an attitude right back. Also, where on the website does it state you will be charged a packing fee? Between false advertisement, poor customer service and adding on fees the customer is unaware of, this really has ruined my opinion of this restaurant. Also, for $24.50+, this was probably the smallest pasta dish I ever got.

On December 29, 2023, my friends and I (four childhood friends) decided to see a movie (The Color Purple), and have dinner at the 110 Grille in South Bay. Because our outing was scheduled for December 29th, we thought it would be best to make reservations.

When we arrived, we were suprised that the restaurant was practically empty. We were seated immediately, and everything went downhill from there. When our waitress came, we were still undecided, we all asked for water, and she said she'd give us more time, but return with the waters shortly. We ended up having to flag her down to ask for our waters. When she returned, she only brought two glasses of water (all 4 of us asked for water). When we brought this to her attention, she apologized and said she'd be right back. At that point we were ready to order. We ordered our food (two of us had burgers and fries, another friend had salmon with cole slaw and friends, two of my friends ordered claim chowder. When the chowder came, it was another server and she served from the outside of our table (closer to the pick up station, which was very odd). When she began serving, she served my friend closest to her first, then she reached over her, and served my other friend her chowder. When she reached over, her sleeve was in my friend's chowder, to which my friend replied, "Watch out, your sleeve is in my chowder." The server replied, "oh it's okay." My friend replied, "No it's not okay!" She pushed her entire arm out of her chowder and the server acted as if nothing happened. Both orders of chowder were cold, they were sent back, and our original waitress returned with chowder and apologized. She apologized for the chowder being cold, not for the waitress putting her entire sleeve in my friend's chowder. Our burgers and fries were both good. We couldn't understand why the waitress was so forgetful, she only had one other table besides ours that she was serving.

Once we were done, we asked for takehome containers, she returned with two containers (three of us asked for containers). She apologized again and returned with three containers. While getting our money together we discussed the terrible service and how we should leave a smaller tip to send a message. We are very good tippers, but we left her a tip but it wasn't our usual (15% we usually leave 20%). We also asked to speak to the owner (who we saw walking around when we arrived), but we were told he wasn't available.

The next day, December 30, 2023, I was in the area, so I stopped by the 110 Grille to complain about our lousy service the night before. I asked to speak to the owner, after three different servers approached me asking if I needed to be seated, once again I asked for the owner. Finally a manager came out and asked if she could help. I asked to speak with the owner, and she told me he wouldn't be in until 6pm. She asked if she could help, I told her about our experience the night before, and she said she remembered us. At the end of our conversation, she apologized for the subpar service, she took down my name and number and said that she wouled forward the information to the owner, and he would definitely give me a call back that same day. In addition to the apology, she gave me 4 complimentry appetizer coupons and a bottle of Saratoga water. I thanked her and told her I'd be awaiting the owner's call. As of today, April 3, 2024, I have yet to receive a call from the owner.

I wasn't going to write a review at all, but I didn't want others to experience what we experienced.

Update 4/18/24 After reading the response from 100 Grille South Bay, per their request, I completed the complaint form , leaving my email adddress and phone number. Part of their response said, "We hope we have the opportunity to make things right for you in the future." That was one week ago. As of today April 18, 2024, I still haven't heard back from anyone at the 110 Grille...

Alright. "110 Grill" is one of my mothers and I's favorite restaurants. The food is great, they have many options, they are allergy friendly and almost anyone's tastes can be appeased. Here's the thing. 110 is also a hit or miss restaurant. We've been to REALLY good 110's and horrible ones. This one specifically got me excited because of the high ratings and stars. Starting out, it was good. We were sat down fast and got nice service from our waitress. We got our bread and butter, and ordered buffalo wings as an appetizer. This is where things got a little annoying. It took about 15 minutes to get our wings. First, we were almost given another tables appetizer. Then they were finally brought out by another women who was not our waitress. We then ordered and because I know exactly what I'd need for sauces, I ordered those with my food so she wouldn't have to run around. Our original waitress took our order, but ANOTHER (#3) waitress brought the food without the sauces. It took another 5 minutes to get some ketchup, honey mustard and vinegar. My plate was also not very hot. Just barely warm. In general it tasted good. Suddenly, waitress #3 brings our check and a box for my mother leftovers. No asking for dessert or anything. We did still ask for a dessert menu and she took the original check back. Both my mother and I have ordered the "Peanut Butter Cascade Sundae" multiple times and we always love it! It took a good 15 minutes to come out and when it did, it just didn't look like it normally does. Hardly any fudge and the taste was almost freezer burnt. We called the manager over and explained. They were taken off the bill and we walked out without dessert. I have a super sweet tooth, I was pretty upset. Walking back to the car, we pasted "J.P. Licks" and decided to give it a go! Dang did their ice cream hit the spot!

So, food was good, but could of been better. Service was slow, there was very little communication with confusing wait staff, and dessert wasn't up to par. Pretty disappointed. ; As an add on, the table beside up also had an issue with the food. They found a sticker from the produce in...
