I'm a musician and my band recently played at the venue. Someone attending a venue mainly focuses on the price of booze, the cover charge and the atmosphere when they are there. As a musician playing at the venue, you get a more behind the scenes take on a place. First of all, they treat musicians really well. As in they're kind, generous, giving and very respectful regardless of how popular your band is or isn't. Secondly, they have an amazing sound system, a very good sound engineer and they have gone to great lengths to add sound absorbing materials throughout the place to actually provide a high quality presentation of the band's music. Third, it's an old church revamped into a music venue. Very cool architecture, a large open area with incredibly high ceilings, it's an awesome space with a unique vibe, a very cool owner that cares about the right things and believes in that dream of what everyone would want to do in owning a music venue and he's succeeding at it. I wish we had a venue like this closer to where I live. But I'm glad it's not too far away. Looking forward to seeing more good bands there for...
Read moreThis is my absolute favorite place to see live music and I don't even live nearby - but I go out of my way to come here if I see an event I'm interested in. I don't go to live shows as much as I'd like because I can often get overwhelmed (large crowds, noise, etc can be too much sometimes.) But this place is chefs kiss perfection. It is a smaller venue so it never feels "too much", and if it does, it's easy to step out onto the beautiful front steps and take a break and get some fresh air. The staff here are always friendly and welcoming. They offer ear plugs if you need them. It is just so beautiful inside. Being an actual church, the acoustics are next level. I like to be able to take up residence at one of the high top tables, because I can either stand and dance, or sit down, and there's nowhere in this place that isn't near the stage. They do a ton of different kinds of shows. Do yourself a favor and...
Read moresaw horsegirl here which was awesome. nice seating areas, very spacious so lots of people were able to fit at the front. i know churches are hard for audio mixing but while horsegirl i thought sounded great, the first 2 bands really wouldve benefited from more balanced eq'ing, particularly the guitars alot of times sounded like a raw high grating frequency, while the rest of the band sounded good. maybe it was the way the guitarists set their amps, youd be surprised how many guitarists dont even consider it. i find that mic placement, or too much messing with the board is usually the culprit for this sort of issue. i dont know if theres a house sound guy or it was their own but something i thought was worth pointing out. id really enjoy coming back for...
