Hahaha okay, so as a born & raised Texan, I typically refuse to eat ANY BBQ outside of Texas, however as yearly visitors of Breck, we try to eat somewhere different and we walked by and thought the menu looked good….. And I’m not sure how ANY other Texan has not realized this- and I scrolled through several reviews after we ate….but….their Texas Red BBQ Sauce & the Texas Red Spicy are from Rudy’s. I’m pretty sure the brisket is mail ordered from them as well, tasted identical. Yes you can mail order food from Rudy’s BBQ in Texas. Brisket was good, tasted just like Rudy’s BBQ, but…it wasn’t hot, it was room temp. BBQ meat typically is seasoned with salt on the outside of the meat/in the dry rub or brined in SALT water, so I feel like people that say it’s salty aren’t used to real BBQ. Mac n cheese was typical BBQ place style- it was good- daughter got the Brisket Mac & loved it. Baked beans had red kidney beans in them as well as pintos, not “saucy” enough for my liking, however I come from a family who has been slow cooking beans for generations….but kidney beans are meant for Chili- not baked/BBQ beans. Flavor was good and they were piping hot. 4.Husband got the wings- they were over-cooked, and outside was burnt to the point of not being able to taste the dry-rub. He thought they were the worst wings he’s ever had…In his whole life. Cornbread- cake like consistency- a little dry and not much flavor. I’d recommend switching to a Texas staple- Morrisons corn kits, add 1/4c sugar, an extra egg & a dollop of sour cream to each batch- not cake-like but moist as can be and truly Texas style. Queso was good, wish the tortilla chips would have been better quality for the queso.
The restaurant look itself was awesome, loved the atmosphere. The food was NOT terrible, it could just use some improvements- warmer temps when serving was my main complaint & keep an eye on the wings when...
Read moreDuring our trip to Breckenridge we decided we were in the mood for BBQ, and this place looked promising. They have a small patio with a fireplace and an outdoor propane heater, but we actually ordered for carryout. While ordering the employee kept telling me how I should change my order even though I knew exactly what I wanted. Suggestions are fine, but the changes he made ultimately screwed up my order and made less work for them. I asked for my brisket to be chopped because that is how I enjoy it on my sandwich, they gave me sliced and it was terrible. It was so fatty it was like trying to eat snotty meat. It was just disgusting. They also rang me up for a side I ordered, but didn't include it in with our food. We didn't realize it was missing until walking back to our room and unloading our insulated bag. When I called they suggested I come back and get the missing item, and then when I said I wouldn't do that they tried to refund me less than I paid for the item. It wasn't even about the money it was only $4, but the principle of the issue. Another annoyance we had while ordering was the fact that I asked for a receipt for my records and got a snide comment of "Oh, we don't get anyone asking for those anymore", then he walked off while I was paying. I had just removed my card when another employee walked up and said "are you done? If you are done you need to move out of the way so others can order." (there was one person behind us). I explained I just removed my card and was waiting for my receipt and the other guy walked off. He just said, "oh" and walked out the door. Finally the original guy came back and got my receipt for me. Luckily I had my receipt because of the food issue I mentioned before. I'll never go back to this...
Read moreFirst off- bartender in the maroon shirt on Sunday the June 7th was rude and lost our business. Won’t say his name, but you know who he is because I complained to management. And I don’t think this was his first time.
Now for the story-
My wife and I are from Loveland and visit Breckenridge often. 2 years ago we were married at Dillon Lake and spent the weekend with our family, even went to CB Potts which is no longer there. Really missing that place. Anyways, my wife and I were spending our 2 year anniversary in Frisco at a campsite not far from Breckenridge. This is a special weekend for us and we know that restaurants just started opening for dine-in so we thought we’d check out this new place. I walked in and asked the bartender in the maroon shirt if I could see a menu. Since no one was at the door to greet me, I thought why not ask the first employee I see. He was rude and said “I’m busy right now” and I look down to see a menu right in front of him. So I just walked out. But then I came back inside and told the bartender he lost my business and he just shrugged his shoulders and gave me attitude. When I asked for his name he threw his mask off and yelled across the restaurant his full name and his managers name. I didn’t like his aggressive attitude, he was extremely unwelcoming and really put a damper on our anniversary weekend. This is a place of business and I would expect professionalism. We understand there is a pandemic going on, but I would think you’d want our business at a time like this. The previous restaurant had to close down because of hard times, and now it’s Whiskey( a 1 star)Smokehouse. Over the years we’ve made friends with several places downtown and know there’s better...
