I moved away from Buffalo 20 years ago and was eager to show my family of 4 how nice the the waterfront is and discover how far it had developed. We looked at the activities advertised on the website and decided to rent blue bikes. Alas, the blue bike stand had 3 bikes, the rest had been stolen. We eventually figured out how to get the Bike Ferry across to the outter harbour to rent pink bikes. There were cool kites fluttering in the blue sky, but the pink bike offering was abysmal. Unbothered teens showed us shabby bikes scattered on the ground. None had brakes. We tried helmet after helmet with broken straps. Finally paid 80 some dollars for a two hour ride on bikes that were either too small or large for each us. After 10 minutes, my son's chain snapped. We walked the bike back and got a refund. No food or drink services were open until 3 so we were parched, starving, and utterly frustrated in the blustering sun. Then we were stuck on the island for another hour as we waited impatiently for the Bike Ferry. We love Buffalo but we didn't enjoy Canalside and we certainly did not find it to be an example of progress! Be advised to bring your own bikes. We did then walk to Southern Tier Brewery which raised...
Read moreThis is a beautiful new venue in Buffalo that has a lot of potential. Giving the venue staff the benefit of the doubt but they still have a lot of logistical things to figure out. The free parking lot was hard to find and then it was nearly impossible to get into/out of the venue since there is only one entry/exit point… seems dangerous to me. The walk from the stage to the lot takes about 5-10 minutes depending on the crowd. There should also definitely be more than one area to get merch and drinks. However, the prices here are very fair. This venue was also perfect for folks who are shorter and/or get anxious in crowds since there’s an elevated grassy area in the back.
Good luck getting an Uber out of the venue post-concert. The nearest pickup location is about 15 min walk from the venue exit. Also beware of “taxi” drivers in unmarked cars with no...
Read moreWhat can i say? Plenty actually. You can take a trip back in time as you walk the trails and experience what Buffalo used to be when we were one of the largest cities in the young nation and the gateway to the West. The roads are paved with little to no potholes, There is plenty of parking. Access to the water, two nature preserves, the city and at least 2 towns. Many local events are now being hosted here and that's awesome. There are multiple art installations situated around the land. It's amazing place for amateur and professional photographers. Either capturing the bald eagles, the few albino deer, local and migrating birds or a breathtaking sunset. Pack a bag, the sunglasses and...
