Spirit of Buffalo — Local services in Buffalo

Absolutely love this boat! We've gone on three trips with them so far! Two day time and one evening. The crew have always been great and of course it's nice to get out on the water! The only reason for the 4 instead of 5 stars is due to our last trip out, evening sail. The boat and crew were great, but I wish that they had said something to the large group that was seated or rather standing, swearing, and yelling to/at each other the entire time. Obviously the people doing that, a family, are mostly to blame for just being outright rude and inconsiderate, but at a certain point I wish the crew had done or said something to maybe make it stop or at least ease up. Most of the family, obviously quite drunk and honestly just 100% rude, are to blame for what would have otherwise been a really nice outing for us. It ruined the sail a bit for my husband and I as we were barely able to hear each other speak, see the sights, hear ourselves think.

Too bad, but I think we might avoid the boat at least in the evenings...

We did the evening cruise, which offered great views from the water of the sunset over Lake Erie and the moon rising over the city of Buffalo. After leaving the slip, we traveled west along the shore of Lake Erie for about an hour before returning. From afar, we had great views of the grain silos and the city skyline. The sailors on the boat were very skilled and friendly, taking time to talk and interact with the passengers. The Spirit of Buffalo is a smaller boat, which makes the ride much nicer than a huge cruise with tons of people. The interior of the boat is beautiful wood, although the best ride is still topside. Took our kids on the pirate cruise and it was not worth the price of admission. The crew did a pretty poor job playing "pirates" and really aren't very engaging with the kids. The boat is pretty small and is a regular sail boat, similar to what an individual might own for themselves. So it's very tippy, the deck rails are pretty flimsy and generally not "safe" feeling for a bunch of little kids.

This is probably a nice boat for an adults cruise, but they should really axe the kids cruise from their lineup. It was boring for the kids due to the lame "pirates" and anxiety inducing for parents trying to make sure that our kids didn't go overboard.
