Went there to explore the new place as we visit the brick and mortar often and never disappoints with the food or beer. We love Canalside. So much to do around here so we were excited when another restaurant opened besides Liberty Hound.
Well save the trip unless you are getting just food and water or pop. 2 plain hotdogs and a beer and a 6oz glass of wine cost us $32.08! The hotdogs had a good char on them but the buns were so thick. Think brioche thick. The hotdog got lost and the bun soaked up the condiments. Yuck. Not how you want a good bun , especially when you are using Sahlen's Hot Dogs. You did the dog no justice. They were also out of many beers that my husband requested and had not updated their "white board" to reflect. (The beers that were not available had been crossed out with a dry erased marker) Gave it 2 stars as the girl was very nice when taking our order was very nice and personable and the atmosphere is always great. We thought they would take advantage of the location but clearly need to work out some kinks still. For the price we paid, we could have gone to Liberty Hound, had the same view and spent $10-$15 more-had 2 cocktails each and an meal each. If you zoom in, you can see the prices...
Read moreFirst the good: We bought 2 cheeseburgers and a side of fries on the Sunday of Labor Day Weekend. We walked right up to the window and ordered. They were fairly quiet in terms of customers. The food was solid - and it was ready in good time. No complaints.
Now for the … bad (more like “wth”): When I picked up the food, I asked for ketchup. “We’re out of ketchup,” she said. I expressed disbelief. She explained: “It’s the end of the season, so they’re not ordering a lot of stuff … .” I expressed more disbelief. The cook called out to me from the back of the stand — he was offering a bottle of ketchup from his stores. I gladly accepted.
After I came to our table with the food (and ketchup story), I realized that I’d forgotten to grab napkins. My wife got up to get them. Did they have napkins? They did not. “End of the season,” it was explained.
Ketchup packets have a lengthy shelf life. Napkins have an even longer one.
What the heck is going on with Resurgence Brewing as an operator at this site? My only guess is that they don’t plan to return in 2026 and have pulled the plug on giving this hot dog stand the most basic...
Read moreIn downtown Buffalo for the night for work. Walked over to canal area. Resurgence is a is a nice harbor side quick serve restaurant in downtown Buffalo. Service took a little bit which they’re only two people working, so expected.
My main complaint is I ordered a set of fries, and inquired about a container or a paper to go container to take the fries back to my hotel.
Even though they had a stack of them in the back behind the register in plain view, they said they could not give them the way except for salads 🤔🫤
Never experienced this before, but if you are to be a quick serve eatery, then there should be a basic thing your restaurant should provide.
Maybe a minor issue to some but will never go back because of that.
Fries were good though. I think this is a smaller location branched out from their main, and if so, this is just reflecting this...
