Stayed two nights here. When they say no frills they mean no frills. Pros: quaint, old Florida, kitzchy, clean comfy bed. Within walking distance of all the restaurants and cool places. Also there was a lovely mural on the wall, and the bedspreads were cute although they didn't match the couch. Also you could see some of the Gulf from the rotting craptacular deck if you're tall.
Cons: It's a smoker's Paradise! = TINDER BOX! Although the room didn't stink, gross dirty ashtrays abounded. Air conditioner did not take the humidity out of the room. Probably needs filter cleaned. Also, there were no outlets in the bathroom! So don't think about drying your hair in front of the mirror or shaving with an electric razor. Don't bring any hair implements that require electricity! And the bathroom was extremely small, good thing I'm a small person. Also the water pressure was pretty much non-existent although it was hot while you're forced to take a long shower due to aforementioned dribble shower. The carpet was filthy And I wouldn't want to be in the room underneath me since it sounds like you're clogging when your feet hit the plywood floors I guess? The place needs to be renovated as in painting and new flooring for starters. The real deal breaker for me was the fat roach in the bathroom, yikes! Also yipping annoying dogs if you're not a dog person. Paper thin walls allow you to hear everyone's conversation. Another thing that bothers me is that the towels are colorful and look rather worn. Shouldn't they be bleached? Rather disturbing. The owner will probably say it's part of...
Read moreCustomer is wrong type of attitude. Small toilets small bathroom. Maybe go to City Park to use bathroom. Toilet can handle maybe a kids size number 2. Sorry to be blunt. Yes we plugged toilet. So what the owner does after we ask them to fix it. (After we finally found them) I would have fixed it if there was a plunger in the room. He knocks on our door with a literal bag of poop and toilet paper and says it's man made. Well obviously but that's disgusting and unbelievably rude to do that. Just fix the problem. Deck feels like you are going to fall through unless you step on nails. We switched rooms to lower level. Lower level rooms have smaller fridge. Firm beds downstairs super soft upstairs. Hardly any room to change clothes in bathroom. We asked to move to lower room because my uncle has bad knees. Moved us into a room that was previously flooded due to plumbing. So it had a musky smell. I had to use my diffuser to be able to breath in the room. Air conditioning downstairs not nearly as strong. Won't be back here but I hope if you syas here that it is a pleasant stay. Oh check in is between 3 and 6 but good luck if you can find anyone...
Read moreThe owners are great. We took our pups & they allowed us to leave our big dog while going to buy fresh clams (no dogs allowed at the market/hatchery & he would go crazy in the car, tearing up our leather seats, unlike our small pup), as long as we left our #, just in case. Yes it's an older hotel, but you can tell they have been slowly renovating over the last couple years since they've owned it & most importantly it was CLEAN! Decent size mini-fridge & small microwave, only thing missing is a small coffee pot (I just brought instant coffee packets since I knew this from other reviews). We would/WILL gladly stay again! Beds were comfy enough and it's reasonably priced. I'd rather spend my money visiting Cedar key than just on my hotel, which I typically wouldn't spend too much time in, but I say that AFTER spending 90% of our weekend IN the room because my fiance was sick the entire stay (an ongoing issue that flared up on a surprise trip for his birthday)! The side balconies are great to relax on, one with a view towards the water and the other on the main street. Walking distance...
